After some delays and re-shoots, ‘Mama, I Want To Sing!’ will premiere at the 13th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival.
Presented by BET Networks, the musical starring singer Ciara and actress Lynn Whitfield will screen on Sept. 26. According to AOL BLACK VOICES, the movie isn’t completely finished but will still screen during the Film Festival. Peep the trailer above.

Platinum selling Capitol Records recording artist LeToya Luckett will be starring in the new movie, The Preacher’s Kid. The movie will be released on October 30th. Peep the trailer above.
LeToya, who will be releasing her upcoming album ‘LADY LOVE’ on August 25th, will be joining Radio One’s Russ Parr Morning Show Bus Tour, with stops in the midwest and Parr’s home market, Washington, DC.

When Chris Rock’s daughter, Lola, came up to him crying and asked, “Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair?” The comic committed himself to search the ends of the earth and the depths of black culture to find out who had put that question into his little girl’s head.

Check out the trailer of Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself starring Perry, as well as Taraji P. Henson, Mary J. Blige, Gladys Knight, Brian J. White, and Alex Rodriguez.
The film is based on Tyler Perry’s 2005 stage play and brings back his famed character Madea. It also centers around April (played by Henson) and her struggles of life, including that of caring for her niece and nephews. April meets Sandino (played by Rodriguez) who helps to change her prospective of life and goes on from there. I Can Do Bad All By Myself hits theaters September 11th, 2009.

Lionsgate has debuted the new trailer for Lee Daniels’ ‘Precious’, originally known as ‘Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire’ earlier this week. The film, adapted from the 1996 novel about a teenage girl living in Harlem. The film premiered in January 2009 at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize for best drama, as well as a Special Jury Prize for supporting actress Mo’Nique.
Some of you may remember our post from earlier this year speaking about the film; now with the backing of Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry the movie will open in theaters nationwide later this year.
The movie stars: newcomer Gabby Sidibe, Mo’Nique, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey and Paula Patton.

Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson arrives at the premiere of Tyson in West Hollywood, on Thursday.
The documentary film, which premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival to rave reviews and was directed by James Toback and produced by Lala Vazquez & Carmelo Anthony’s production company Krossover, is a mixture of original interviews, archival footage and photographs which sheds light on the life experiences of Mike Tyson.

Check out this trailer for the movie American Violet starring Alfre Woodard, Charles S. Dutton, Xzibit, and introducing Nicole Beharie.
Based on a true story set in the midst of the 2000 Bush/Gore Presidential election, the film tells the story of Dee Roberts (played by Beharie), a 24-year-old African American single mother of four who is wrongfully swept up in a drug raid. The film will hit theaters on April 17th.
SAMUEL TO PLAY ‘NICK FURY’ LONGTERM
Marvel Comics tapped Samuel L. Jackson to take on the role of comic character Nick Fury in Iron Man 2, and nine other films:
Jackson’s deal is a long-term commitment to play Fury, the leader of the espionage unit the Shield. His deal contains an option to play the character in nine future Marvel superhero films, efforts that are expected to include “Captain America,” “Thor,” “The Avengers” and “The Shield” as well as potential sequels. Jackson worked out a deal with the famous comic company after he reportedly expressed his displeasure with the initial financial offer to reprise his role.
