Well it looks like being openly racist is back in for 2012. A record number of people flocked to the premiere of the highly anticipated movie, ‘Hunger Games’ last week. However, some comments from a select few of them have been making news over the past few days. Many were upset that young actress Amandla Stenberg was chosen to play Rue and actor/musician Lenny Kravitz (Cinna) were cast in the movie, despite the fact that the novel’s author, Suzanne Collins describes these characters, particularly Rue, as having “dark brown skin and eyes.” Some reactions to this:
“I was pumped about the Hunger Games. Until I learned that a black girl was playing Rue.”

These disturbing tweets and many more were posted on a Tumblr page called ‘Hunger Games Tweets.’ It’s sole mission? Two months from today, a documentary based on the life of legendary reggae icon Bob Marley will be in movie theaters around the US. In conjunction with Magnolia Pictures, Marley (a film directed by Kevin Macdonald) will give reggae and music fans alike a glimpse into the late musician’s life and will include rare behind-the-scenes footage, photos and performances.
