MUSIC NEWS: KEYSHIA COLE ALBUM NEWS / PREVIEW RIHANNA’S “REHAB” VIDEO / JAY-Z SAYS NO BLUEPRINT 3 IN 2008

Thursday, November 13, 2008 |

keyblue.gifKeyshia Cole will release her new album, A Different Me just in time for Christmas on December 16th. The album is led by the single, “Playa Cardz Right,” featuring the late Tupac Shakur.

But it seems as though our friends at Rap-Up.com have confirmed that Kanye West and Nas will make guest appearances, and the album will also feature a duet with Atlanta native, and close friend, Monica.

All of the songs on the Oakland native’s latest effort were written or co-written by her with production from producers such as Ron Fair, Polow Da Don, Trackmasters, The Runners, Kwame, and Neffu.

In the mean time, while you wait for Keyshia’s new album, you can tune into the new season of her reality show, The Way It Is on BET every Tuesday night.

PREVIEW RIHANNA’S “REHAB” VIDEO

Pop princess Rihanna gives us a little sliver of her new video from her new single from Good Girl Gone Bad, “Rehab,” featuring Justin Timberlake, who co-wrote the track with producer Timbaland (view photos from the set here).

Rihanna really has milked this album for everything that its worth! “Rehab” was one of my favorite tracks from the album, so I’m definitely not mad at her! The video, directed by Alan Furgeson, should be released any day now.

♫ THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW ♫

Wednesday, November 12, 2008 |

♫ Left Eye feat. TLC & Missy Elliott - Let’s Just Do It (full) - listen
A lot of terrible, low-quality rips have been going around of this, but here’s the official version. Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who tragically passed in 2002, will finally get a release of her sophomore album. The LP is being released through Mass Appeal Entertainment, in conjunction with the Lopes family. It will also feature songs from Lopes’ 2001 solo debut, Supernova, which was never released in the U.S. UrbanNetwork.com reports that a duet with late rapper Tupac Shakur called “Legendary” will also appear on the disc. It’s good to hear this, I like it a lot.

♫ Will.I.Am - It’s A New Day (full) - listen
I heard that the Black Eyed Peas were putting out a new album, although were supposed to be disband, after the ill success of Will.I.Am’s solo album, Songs About Girls. “It’s A New Day” finds Will.I.Am still on his fun, funky sounds. I’m assuming that this is just a song dedicated to Obama’s recent win of the White House, because I don’t really see it for another album effort from Will. He needs to stick with the Black Eyed Peas and production.

♫ HOT OR NOT: KANYE WEST & YOUNG JEEZY - “AMAZIN’”

KANYE WEST FEAT. YOUNG JEEZY - AMAZIN’

We’re only a couple of weeks away from the release of the new Kanye West album, 808’s & Heartbreaks (due out November 24th now) and we have another new song for you. Unmixed and unmastered material has leaked and Kanye has already released two videos from the set. The latest of the leaks is the new Young Jeezy-assisted “Amazin’.” I really love the simplicity of the song.

Also, since Kanye has tried his hand at singing on this new album, I really am interested to know if he’s the one behind the background vocals on the album. Is it Kanye? In any event, it wouldn’t be a party of Young Jeezy wasn’t invited. So you know we have to ask you guys that age-old question…

♫ NEW MUSIC: BEYONCE - “EGO”

BEYONCE - EGO

Beyonce’s new album, I Am… Sasha Fierce hits stores November 18th, but the album has found it’s way to the internet, minus a couple of tracks that are being saved for the deluxe edition. Included in these tracks was the second single from the singer’s forthcoming third solo studio album, “Ego.”

Although the album version doesn’t include Kanye West, we learned that the single remix version will feature a verse from Kanye. The track was produced and written by Elvis “BlacElvis” Williams and Harold Lilly, with credits from Beyonce as well. When the song first comes on, I’m not sure where it’s going - but it begins to pick up during the hook. This will be a good follow-up single to “Single Ladies,” as “Halo” will be for “If I Were A Boy.”

MUSIC NEWS: JAMIE FOXX ALBUM NEWS / ALICIA KEYS PREPS AS I AM RERELEASE / KANYE & LUDA PUSH ALBUMS UP

Monday, November 10, 2008 |

Seems as though there was some truth to the news of Jamie Foxx dropping a new album. The Oscar winner will release a follow-up to his hugely successful album, 2005’s Unpredictable.

The new album is titled Intuition, and it will hit stores December 16th. The lead single, the T.I.-assisted “Just Like Me,” was the top debut this week at #48 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, which was super surprising, considering there had been no real news of Jamie Foxx releasing a new album. The track, which was co-written and produced by the hitmaking team of Tricky Stewart and The Dream, goes to digital retailers on Tuesday (November 11th).

Intuition will also feature contributions from Timbaland, Ne-Yo, Sean Garrett, Salaam Remi and Carlos McKinney, among others. I’m surprised that Foxx didn’t enlist Kanye this time for the set, and I’m a little disappointed to see that there’s no mention of Tank on the reports for this new album, considering that he was such a huge influence on Unpredictable, which has sold 1.98 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

ALICIA KEYS - SAVIOR

Alicia Keys, who has recently been touring overseas, has her sights set on November 14th to rerelease her third studio album, As I Am: The Super Edition in the United States. The new release of the album will contain the new single, “Savior,” “Another Way to Die” from the new James Bond film Quantum of Solace, as well as another previously unreleased song, “Doncha Know (Sky is Blue).”

♫ HOT OR NOT: M$NEY - “FUTURE”

M$NEY - FUTURE

You may remember this girl from an artist spotlight that we did on her last year. But now M$ney is back on the scene with a new single she premiered on her MySpace page entitled “Future,” which is supposedly written by our good friends at The Clutch.

I’ve always been intrigued by this girl, ever since she debuted on Timbaland’s last album, Shock Value on the Walter Milsap-produced “Fantasy.” It seems that M$ney is gearing up to put the finishing touches on her debut album and much of it will have these pop synth dance sound. So what do you think of the new track from M$ney?

MUSIC NEWS: PREVIEW BEYONCE’S I AM… / KERI HILSON PUSHED BACK AGAIN / MARIO PREPS NEW ALBUM

PREVIEW BEYONCE’S I AM…

Just a couple of weeks away from its release, the full version of Beyonce’s third studio, I Am… have surfaced on the internet. You can now preview the entire album. The double disc will drop November 18th, in two formats. One version will be a deluxe edition, with extra songs.

Beyonce co-wrote all the songs on I Am… with production from Rodney Jerkins, Mr. Bangladesh, Tricky Stewart & The Dream, Stargate, Amanda Ghost, and many more. The album, from what I gathered, is pretty impressive. I expected to love the Sasha Fierce side moreso than the Beyonce side of the album, but I was pleasantly surprised.
