It’s said that Jay-Z and Kanye West broke records on iTunes in the United States with their one-week sales record, selling ,nearly 290,000 downloads via the retailer through the week since it’s exclusive release on 8th.
Watch the Throne surpasses the previous one-week iTunes record, set when Coldplay’s 2008 album Viva La Vida Or Death & All His Friends shifted 282,000 in the first week.
It’s no surprise though. The album was made available exclusive through iTunes from the 8th-11th of August, and the physical form of the album has only been in stores since the 12th. The overall official first-week sales, which will include digital and physical copies combined, will be released by Nielsen SoundScan on Wednesday morning. Currently, it’s looking to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart with around the 410,000-450,000.
MIGUEL TALKS SOPHOMORE ALBUM
R&B crooner Miguel opened up to TheBoomBox about the follow-up to his debut album, All I Want Is You, which produced a large hit in “Sure Thing” and is currently being promoted by his latest single, “Quickie.”
“The next album I think is going to project more of my outlook on the world as opposed to my romantic experience,” he explains of the album, which has no title or projected release date as of yet. “On All I Want is You, I discussed my experience in my last three or four relationships. It was a great way to introduce myself because I think love brings us all together. But I think it’s a lot more that I can discuss and this album is going to definitely be that platform to really broaden the minds of fans.”
Seems as though the criticism Miguel has received about his style, etc. may have something to do with the inspiration for this upcoming project. It’s no secret that with his electric sense of style, fans and naysayers have questioned Miguel about his sexuality, which his response has been that only people in the United States have that outlook on fashion and style.
