♫ Day26 - Stadium Music (full) - listen
With the premiere of the new season of MTV’s Making the Band 4 comes the leaking of a new Day26 song, “Stadium Music,” which was revealed as the theme song for the new season. Apparently, the song will also be featured on the new album, which is currently untitled, but set for release on April 14th. Wow! That seems like they are working pretty fast. It sounds like a Bryan-Michael Cox production! It seems as though they’ll be working with the same people from their first album. The formula worked the first time, so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
♫ Atiba - Hey Lady (full) - listen
Check out the new single from latest Slip ‘N Slide Records signee, Atiba. The new track, “Hey Lady,” samples from Zapp & Roger’s “I Wanna Be Your Man.” It seems as though the trend of incorporating dancehall and reggae influences into modernized R&B is re-emerging. It was huge on the rise in 2003, but died down a little bit. Atiba once was working with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, but has now ventured to the Miami-based label, formed by Trick Daddy.

♫ Missy Elliott feat. Teyana Taylor & Pharrell - Put It On You (snippet) - listen
Missy Elliott’s Block Party project was put on hold, due to the success failure of her alleged first single, “Best, Best,” which was produced by Danjahandz. Even though I really liked the track, and could see it performing well with a video (Missy is known for having unique clips for her singles), it was under promoted. But this new snippet featuring Teyana Taylor and Pharrell Williams, produced by The Neptunes has leaked, and it indeed sounds like the respective album title - a block party.
♫ J. Holiday - Heart Attack (full) - listen
Seems as though J. Holiday’s new album, Round 2, is shaping up to have more love songs, which is great, because it will be representative of his singles. “Heart Attack” is actually a pretty cool track. I enjoy J. Holiday’s voice, but 2007’s Back of My ‘Lac just wasn’t a full batch of enjoyable material. Although there’s no official tracklisting confirmed yet for Round 2, I’m hoping that Holiday follows this direction. These are the type of tracks ladies want to hear from him.

♫ T-Pain feat. Lil’ Wayne - Snap Your Fingaz (full) - listen
Lil’ Wayne plans on releasing his full rock album, The Rebirth on April 7th, but that hasn’t stopped him from continuing with his rap roots. He just finished up his I Am Music tour with T-Pain, with whom he is supposed to be doing a joint album with. Ever since T-Pain’s first single, “Can’t Believe It,” it seems as though the two have been inseparable on tracks - to the point where they began calling themselves T-Wayne. I’m not mad at it though. I like the slow groove of this new track.
♫ Rich Boy - Hataz (full) - listen
Although I thoroughly enjoyed Rich Boy’s debut album, I haven’t really been too impressed with any of the new material that’s dropped from him. I guess in comparison to the productions on his first album, these new tracks sound somewhat “cheap.” The last album was so immaculately produced by Polow that it just seems a little disappointing to hear him rapping over these mediocre productions.

♫ Lil’ Wayne - Amazing Love (full) - listen
These rock tracks from Lil’ Wayne are popping up all over the place! Although “Prom Queen” is the first single, I’m wondering whether or not these songs that have leaked will actually make the album or if Weezy is just leaking some songs from sessions to see how well the public reacts to them. I’m not immediately drawn to the vocal arrangement on the chorus of “Amazing Love,” but I see some potential in these songs. I just don’t understand why HE is recording them.
♫ Ginuwine - Can’t Blame You (full) - listen
In addition to still working with Timbaland, it seems that Ginuwine has been dealing a lot with Bryan-Michael Cox on this new album. B. Cox has been laying low for the past few months, but it seems as though he’s getting Ginuwine some good vocal-appropriate material for his new album, A Man’s Thoughts, which is set to hit this spring. I really like the song, but something about the background vocals that’s killing me.

♫ Lil’ Mama - I’m A Diva (full) - listen
I didn’t think that Lil’ Mama was going to be doing another album, I just thought that she was going to continue to be a judge on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. Everyone’s a diva now. The production, although I’m not sure who is reponsible for it, sounds like Britney Spear’s first single from her album, Circus, “Womanizer.” I don’t know, some people said that they liked it, but I’m not really buying it.
♫ Rihanna feat. The Dream - Hatin’ On the Club (full) - listen
To me, Rihanna, The Dream and Tricky Stewart have undeniable chemistry. From the material that they produced together on her Good Girl Gone Bad project (”Umbrella,” “Breakin’ Dishes,” etc.), I would say that I have just about liked everything they’ve done together. I’m a little confused though, because I thought that Rihanna was going for a more edged-out, rock sound - records that sounded more like “Disturbia.” Perhaps these songs that have leaked have been all tracks leftover from previous sessions.

♫ Jay-Z - When the Money Goes (full) - listen
A lot of folks jumped the gun when they said that this was from Jay-Z’s upcoming project, The Blueprint 3, but really “When the Money Goes” is from the recording sessions from American Gangster. I used to listen to AG from front to back and I definitely could have seen this song on the album, but I’m sure there were reasons why the left it off the set. I’m eager to see what Jay is going come up with for this new project, though. There’s been a lot of talk about the producers being used.
♫ Lil’ Wayne - Hot Revolver (full) - listen
Here’s another one of the rock tracks from the sessions for Lil’ Wayne’s new album, The Rebirth, due out April 7th. It’s pretty interesting that all these rappers and transitioning into singing. All this genre-bending might become a little confusing. I’m interested to know how much of this guitar Wayne is actually playing on this new album. I can’t say that I don’t like the material, because I think that “Hot Revolver” and “Prom Queen” are very well written songs. I just don’t know if I understand why Wayne wants to take this direction.

♫ Keri Hilson feat. T.I. - Turnin’ Me On (Remix) (full) - listen / Ready to to Fall (full) - listen
Check out these two new tracks from Keri Hilson, the first being a remix to “Turnin’ Me On,” which has been being remixed by everybody! I actually like the T.I. remix of it. It’s good to hear Atlanta representing on tracks like this. I think this is actually remix #4 of the track, and it seems like most version of it are getting plenty of spins. The second track is “Ready to Fall,” featuring Ne-Yo. It appears on the Tapemasters Inc. & The Untouchables - The Future of R&B, Vol. 23 mixtape. I didn’t know that Keri had ever worked with Ne-Yo , aside from her appearance in the video for his second single, “Miss Independent.”
♫ The Dream feat. Jamie Foxx - Rockin’ That Shit (Remix) (full) - listen
The Dream offers up a remix of his second single, “Rockin’ That Shit,” featuring Jamie Foxx. The two have been working very closely together as of late. The Dream has a couple of cuts on Jamie’s latest album, Intuition. Although this is just a mixtape track, The Dream is set to shoot a video for the original song in Los Angeles this week. It seems like The Dream’s album, Love vs. Money is shaping up to be a pretty good project, this song has been getting a lot of radio love. The new album is slated to release March 3rd.
