Fergie feat. Will.I.Am - Here I Come (full) - download
I got this song a while ago, but as you know, the site was down. I like the sample, but Fergie’s voice definitely gets on my nerves on this song. I can tell, though, that her album is going to have some really live dance tracks. I’m sure Fergie doesn’t take herself too seriously as an artist, but she definitely makes fun music. I can tell, it’s gonna be a dance-inspired album, with tracks like this and the club-banging “London Bridge.”

Beyonce - Back Up (full) - download
I could have sworn that I read somewhere that this song was supposed to have T.I. on it. Ah, well. Another “B’Day” bonus track that’s on the Circuit City release of the album. I definitely think that Beyonce will be re-releasing “B’Day” with all these bonus tracks around tour time. Not much to write home about on this song. It’s another Rodney Jerkins (Darkchild) production.

THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW

NOTE: Thanks for all the e-mails and kind instant messages from people who asked if I’ve been doing okay since there hasn’t been a new review in a while! I’ve been fine, it’s just that it’s been kind of slow with new music recently. Hopefully things will pick up in the coming weeks!

Shareefa - Cry No More (full) - download
Shareefa has grown on me, including that “Need A Boss” song, since they play it every 5 minutes here. I guess the fact that the past weekend was DTP Weekend here in Atlanta doesn’t help too much. But this is sort of like deja vu. This song sounds exactly like “Need A Boss” to me. And surprise, it’s produced by Darkchild! It really does sound like the same song to me for some reason, minus the vocal skip sample.

Kelis feat. Spragga Benz - Fire (full) - download
Thanks to UltimateKelis.com for this track! It’s supposedly an internation bonus track from “Kelis Was Here,” which is also growing on me (select songs). I can definitely see why this didn’t make the US release. Kelis’s voice actually sounds pretty good on this song. And check out the feature from Foxy Brown’s ex-boo.

***UPDATED LINKS***

Janet Jackson feat. Khia - So Excited (full) - download
I don’t think we ever posted the full CD quality version of this song, but I decided to. I really actually dig this song after listening to in it’s high quality form. It’s a nice dance track. It doesn’t sound distorted like that so-called “high quality” rip that was floating around. I hope that this is slated to be Janet’s next single, regardless of how disgusting I think Khia is. I think it’ll knock in the club.

Beyonce - Creole (full) - download
This is a Rich Harrison cut that didn’t make “B’Day.” The song kind of reminds me a bit of “Get Right” the Jennifer Lopez/Usher song that came out last year because the the brassy horns behind her voice. This song basically just shouts out to all the “red bone,” “yellow bone” and “brown bone” honeys. I totally can see why it didn’t make the album, however. Of course, it’s classic Rich Harrison, with the gogo, hard drums and horns. I wonder why he doesn’t switch up his style sometimes. I know he’s capable of it (see: “Soldier” by Destiny’s Child and “Come With Me” by Amerie).

Amerie feat. Willy Denzey - Crunk Di Di (full) - download
I’ve gotten a few e-mails about this song, requesting that I posted. It’s an Amerie track that came out a couple of days ago. It’s got a French artist featured on it. I’m not exactly sure what it’s from, except for a mixtape that came out internationally. I don’t really have an opinion on the song, I just feel like Amerie could do a lot better than this. Her material on “Touch” was much better than this. But obviously, this wasn’t meant for American release.

UNeSS - Shoulda Never Done It (snippet) - download
This is a smooth R&B track from UNeSS, which he wrote and produced. I really dig this, it’s really smooth and has a nice groove to it. I really love these kind of tracks. UNeSS’s falsetto is flawless over the track. I’m really eager to get my hands on the full version of this track. UNeSS, from the few tracks that I’ve heard, has proven himself to be a great song-writer. Can’t wait to hear more from him.

Janet Jackson - Enjoy (full) - download
I’m sorry it took me so long to post this song, but this have been really crazy around these parts. This is what I like to hear from Janet! I love her laid back, mellow tracks as much as I like her dance songs, but something about this to me is just different about the other material that we’ve heard from “20 Years Old.” I’m digging this song, it has a really nice groove and Janet’s voice floats over it really nicely.

Lyfe Jennings - Let’s Stay Together (full) - download
This is apparently the new Lyfe Jennings single. People were really digging his first single, S.E.X., from his new album, The Phoenix, because of the positive message to young girls. I can appreciate people singing about different things, when they’re conveying a message to a wide range of people. Can’t knock Lyfe; I’m not mad at him!

CL EXCLUSIVE: GET YOUR FREAKUM DRESS ON!

Thursday, August 24, 2006 |

freakum.jpg

Beyonce decides to unveil her sexier, freakier side on these two new tracks “Freakum Dress” and “Kitty Kat.” I’m not going to make any production predictions (try saying that 3 times fast) on credits for “Kitty Kat,” but “Freakum Dress” is a hard-hitting congo-filled, gogo-inspired track by Rich Harrison, complete with whistles, which is definitely made for the clubs. It’s a record totally for the purpose of letting everyone know there’s something sexy about every woman. “Kitty Kat” is a mid-tempo track that really just kind of creeps up on you, especially with her little surprise at the end. “B’Day” is set to release the day after Beyonce’s birthday, September 5th. And remember, you heard them here first!

Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSound (full) - download
I’m sorry, but Justin Timberlake is seriously coming with heat on this next album. I’m very excited. Snippets from the album have leaked, along with the three full tracks (”SexyBack,” “My Love” and now this). Timbaland and Justin are a winning combination, I only wish that he had the oppurtunity to hook up with The Neptunes again. However, I’m eager to hear what he came up with working Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and hip-hop producer Rick Rubin. This song is definitely hot, and again, finds Justin using that “Justified” falsetto.

Brooke Valentine feat. Dem Franchize Boyz - Pimped Out (full) - download
Miss Valentine’s first single, “D-Girl” came out earlier this summer and I haven’t heard anything about her new album, “Physical Education.” But two new songs have leaked recently, one being this one. Nothing much to say about it, it doesn’t do much for me, but I guess it’s friendly for mainstream radio and could pop off in the club. Again, I’m just tired of the whole Franchize Boyz snap thing. They can’t be on everything that comes out for the rest of 2006.
