THE DREAM & R. KELLY…

♫ The Dream & R. Kelly – Shawty Is A 10 (Remix)

It was bound to happen. The Dream has teamed up with Mr. Insane himself, R. Kelly (I’m sorry ya’ll, he proved it on that “Same Girl” remix). I mean, like I said, I love this song in the club, in the car with my homies. I think I prefer the version with Fabolous, though. R. Kelly doesn’t add anything to this track that he normally would, but then again, he sounds like he sounds on every remix he does. But I just knew that it was going to happen. He’s still going hard on promoting his album, Double Up, The Dream is preparing to release his debut, so it was only a matter of time before they started cross-promoting eachother. This will definitely be a club and radio favorite.

Hit Dream up on the MySpace and let him know how you feel! Also, be sure to check out CL for more music.

THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW

Mya feat. Trina – Ridin’ (Remix) (full) – listen
Trina’s dropping a new album so it’s only appropriate that she’s hopping on some remixes. I actually kind of like this remix of the song. I think that the more uptempo production goes a little harder than the original version of the song. I also think it fits the lyrics of the song a little better. Although I haven’t enjoyed the bulk of the material that’s been leaked from Mya’s Liberation, I do like the video for “Ridin’” – the imagery is really cool. I just hope that Mya can get out of this rut and release this album. It’s been pushed back too many times.

Chris Brown – I’ll Call Ya (snippet) – listen
Chris Brown’s material from Exclusive, his sophomore effort, is leaking slowly but surely. I, personally, have enjoyed all the singles from Chris, as well as the bulk of the material that I’ve heard, including the snippets. I need to hear the rest of this one, though, because I’m not sold on the song yet. Although it seems as though Chris is suffering from a bit of the sophomore slump, he’s still been getting major promotion from magazines. I’m a little worried about how Exclusive will do, because he hasn’t been getting as much love as he used to.

DOWN IN THE DURTY…

durty.jpg

Ludacris has teamed up with Bun B. and Rick Ross for the new single from the Disturbing Tha Peace compilation. The single, “Down In the Durty” is produced by Clinton “Get Familiar” Sparks. It’s interesting, though, Ludacris is always good for coming out with an out to the south. The song goes hard and I can definitely see it being a radio favorite.

THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW

Free feat. Faith Evans – Dilemma (full) – listen
Remember when people were really excited about Free having a music career? And it sort of just seemed like after 106 & Park, Free just disappeared. The thing is, I think that she is talented, but I don’t know if it’s too late for her. Not only that, but I think the song is a little dated. Faith’s voice sounds beautiful, though. I’ve always loved Faith’s voice, and I think she just adds a raw soul to whatever she gets on. If this is how Free is coming out, I think she needs to hit the drawing board again, ’cause this isn’t a good look for now.

Chingy feat. Amerie – Fly Like Me (full) – listen
Chingy’s new single. Although I’m not a huge fan of Chingy, I can definitely see the appeal on the song. What I want to comment on is the fact that Amerie is on the hook. She sounds good on the song, and I don’t see why her label didn’t take this direction with her in the first place, in order to get some buzz about her. Because with the lackluster singles she put out, you would think that they would throw her on some hooks so that people can remember her and let them get used to her voice again. I can definitely see myself listening to this song in the car, though. It just sounds like a fun songs, the production’s tight.
