JAGGED EDGE – BABY MAKIN’ PROJECT

Jagged Edge feat. Ashanti – Put A Little Umph In It

Admittedly, I’m not a fan of Jagged Edge, but I am slightly fond of their new single, “Put A Little Umph In It,” which is taken from their upcoming, Baby Makin’ Project. I will credit Jermaine Dupri with being the reason that I’m digging the material on this album, considering that he has always knocked out hits for them. And it’s so appropriately titled Baby Makin’ Project, because that’s all it is – baby makin’ music, and I’m glad the JE has gone back to that, because that’s what popularized them in the first place. Although there are is not one uptempo track on the album, they have really managed to keep themselves current in music, releasing albums since 1998.

NEW SINGLE FROM ONE CHANCE!

One Chance – My Word

I’m glad that One Chance is back with their new single, “My Word.” It’s a lot different from their previous single (which dropped sometime last summer), “Look At Her,” which featured D4L’s Fabo. Hopefully this new track can give them the push they need to release their album, Private. Jon, Michael, Courtney and Robbie are signed to Usher’s Us Records through J Records. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the guys and seeing them perform live, and I respect what they do. Private contains productions from Bangladesh, Akon and more. Once the guys release their album, they will be the first artists to have an official release on Us Records.

One Chance is to release their album sometime this year, so make sure you show them some support. Also, be on the look out soon for an interview with the guys from One Chance.

THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW

Keyshia Cole feat. Raheem DeVaughn & Lil’ Kim – Let It Go (Remix) (full) – listen
I don’t know how many more remixes they can make of this song, but I am really glad to see Raheem DeVaughn making a splash back on to the scene. I really like his addition to the song, I think he rides the beat and freaks it pretty well. Again, I am attached to this song, so if his added verse didn’t do it any justice, I would have been upset, but I like how Raheem came on this. If you missed our post last week about new music from Raheem, be sure to check it out.

Kanye West feat. Trick Daddy – I Can’t Say No (full) – listen
A leftover from Graduation, and I definitely can see why. The production isn’t really up to par with the rest of the material from Kanye’s new album. I think that maybe this was just something that they did in the studio for fun. Trick and Kanye probably just had some free time, Kanye had a beat he was messing around with, and so they just recorded this mess. Not that it didn’t have the potential to be a good song, it just seems like it’s a little all over the place.

NEW MUSIC & ALBUM FROM JAY-Z

ag.jpg

Jay-Z feat. Pharrell Williams – Blue Magic (updated with CD quality)

Rapper/mogul Jay-Z has announce that he will release an album full of all new material this November titled American Gangster. Although Jay-Z’s is separate from the official motion picture soundtrack, the new album is Jay-Z’s lyrical interpretation of the movie, which stars Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Cuba Gooding, Jr., RZA, T.I., Ruby Dee, Common and others. The film American Gangster is based on the true story of Frank Lucas, chronicling his rise to dominance over the Harlem drug trade in the streets of New York in 1970 by smuggling heroin into the country using the coffins of Vietnam veterans returning home from the war.

Jay-Z’s first single from American Gangster is “Blue Magic,” which features vocals from Pharrell Williams on the chorus. AG will feature a series of producers, much like Jay-Z’s famed Black Album. The new album is set to hit stores November 6, while the film opens in theaters November 2.
