Check it. Kid Sister is my new obsession, so I had to show her love on the blog. She is an Illinois native and currently resides in Chicago’s north side. According to her she “makes club rap and works at a children’s clothing store slanging bibs and teething rings.” Her brother, J2K of Flosstradamus is her DJ and together they make a dope combination.
I was actually introduced to her music when Kanye featured her song, “Pro Nails” on his newest mixtape, Can’t Tell Me Nothing. Homegirl has madd style and I love it. I’m probably late as hell catching on to her sound, but hey, that’s better than never!
Currently, she is working on her debut album and word is she is going to be performing at the L.A. Neighborhoods Festival on September 29th. So make sure you look out for her music in the future and if you haven’t been bumping “Pro Nails”, what you smoking?
NOTE: Zshare.net was on trip mode, so I had to put the songs up on SendSpace. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again!
Jennifer Lopez - Hold It, Push It (snippet) - download
Not really seeing where Jenny Lo is trying to go with this song. What’s funny is, it seems like something that would have been on Amerie’s Because I Love It for some reason. The song is just really funny because, well, she really just can’t sing a lick. This arrangement really requires and calls for a little bit of vocal ability that I just don’t think J. Lo can provide. This is the rumored single. We’ll see.
J. Holiday - New York Girl (full) - download
J. Holiday is definitely coming hard with “Bed” on the radio from his debut album, Back of My Lac, which has a tentative release date of October 2, according to poster snipes that I’ve seen all over polls here in Atlanta. I think that “Bed” definitely came at the right time, because it is more unique than any of the other material that I’ve heard from J. Holiday. This song is fun, but it doesn’t really strike me or hit as hard as “Bed” did.
I’m glad to see that Common is back with his new album, Finding Forever, which hits stores next Tuesday, July 31. His first single, “The People” (which is produced by Kanye West, who also produced the first single from Common’s last album, “Go!”) has been doing pretty well. Admittedly, 2005’s Be was a great album, and Finding Forever definitely is a nice follow-up record. As usual, Common finds the middle ground between great production and lyrical content, not swapping one out for the other, and you’ve got to respect him for that. Common’s album includes features from Kanye West, Lily Allen, Will.I.Am, Bilal and D’Angelo. The album is sick, I’m digging it a lot.
Make sure you support Common on the 31st (a week from Tuesday) and purchase Finding Forever. For more information about the release, as well as live shows, make sure you log on to his MySpace page or his official site, common-music.com.
Once again, R. Kelly proves that he is absolutely insane. And T. Pain too. Seriously, when I first heard this, my mouth just sort of hung open. It was blatantly obvious that Usher wasn’t available to re-appear on the single because it’s clear that they just layered his vocals for certain parts of the song. At the end, R. Kelly just completely goes on a tangent that has absolutely nothing to do with the initial theme of the song, which is that the “same girl” is actually T. Pain’s wife. Give me a break. If I hear that on the radio over and over again, I might blow a gasket. I mean, I was cool with the original version, but this is over-kill.

I knew! I knew it! I knew it! I knew there was something about this song! Sean Kingston’s hit single, which I can confidently say that I was never a fan of, was also recorded by Blackground recording artist, JoJo. You may remember her from her hit song “Get Out” or her recent album The High Road, released last year.
I can honestly say that I’m in love with JoJo’s voice, so her version is a lot more ‘listenable’ to me. Something told me that this song had been around for a while and they were just waiting for the right time (and the right artist) to drop it. Even though I still wasn’t ready for it, it seems like radio is eating it up. So which version do you like better?
I didn’t think that the industry was ready for Ja Rule to come back, but apparently, he didn’t think so! And I think he did what any other smart rapper would have done - throw Lil’ Wayne on the track, because he’s really what’s hot right now as far as rappers go. At first, listening to the song, it sounded extremely dated to me. Like something from early 2000’s. But not Inc. style. The titled “Uh Oh” made me think that it was going to be sort of epic - like a great return, because Ja Rule and his Murder Inc.-ians used to rule the radio. But this doesn’t make me think of an ultimate return. I guess we’ll just have to see what Ja Rule is going to bring this time around, because this isn’t hot. I’m definitely getting lukewarm from this.
Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of dancehall music, however I am a fan of dance music. This seems more like the latter. I actually was really moving in my seat when I received the e-mail with this song attached. I knew that something had to be up - Sean Paul had shown up on Eve’s single second single, just had Eve had showed up on Kelly’s first. So I knew a new single, with the possibility of a new album was in the works. Apparently, this is it. Sean Paul always pushes out good singles from his albums (as shown when he came out and was all over the charts with his songs, as well as guest features), he has a solid fan base and just a good track record as an artist. When he’s out, he’s out and people love him and really get into his music at clubs, and on radio. I’m kinda’ digging it.
