Nelly Furtado feat. Missy Elliott - Do It (Remix) (full) - download
We just posted up the video for this track. Even though “Do It” was not one of my favorite tracks from Nelly Furtado’s pop smash, Loose, I definitely can see where she was going releasing this as a single. “Do It,” like most of the album, was produced by none other than Timbaland. I guess Loose was this music year’s Afrodisiac (Brandy’s latest album), in the way that he produced near the entire album. Missy Elliott always adds a fun element to everything that she’s on, and I love that presence that she adds to records most of the time.
Eve feat. Sean Paul - Give It To You (full) - download
This seems to be lighting up everywhere, but you know what? I’m not sold on it, and I don’t think it’s necessarily the best choice for Eve’s second single. The beat has great crossover appeal and will probably really heat up on radio, but I hope we are not transitioning back to the time where if you had a Sean Paul feature on your song, it’s meant for radio. I guess this is light enough for radio though. I just thought Eve was gonna come back harder after “Tambourine.”

One Chance - Turn Back the Time (full) - download
In all honesty, I cannot make too many complaints when it comes to One Chance. I thought that people would pretty much be over the whole male R&B group thing, but they work with great producers and pretty good songwriters. Not only that, but after seeing these boys live, I know they can sing. “Turn Back the Time” is a nice ballad, and they sound good - so I can’t even front. Their album, Private, however, still has no release date. Let’s hope that Usher puts some push behind these guys so that they can get that album off the shelf. Supposedly, they’re releasing a new single before the summer’s up, ’cause “Look At Her” is super old now, and didn’t do as well as people thought it would…
Sterling Simms - By the Hand (full) - download
Ugh! This kind of thing makes me really upset. It’s like you take a couple of steps forward, just to take a couple of steps backwards. “Jump Off,” which was Sterling’s first single, was not worth… anything in my opinion. I thought that the production was mediocre, as well as the writing, regardless of how nice I think his voice is. But then he impressed me with both the song and video for “Nasty Girl.” The production was on point and his falsetto was crazy. Let’s just say “By the Hand” pretty much sounds like the slightly-cooler cousin of “Jump Off” (which wasn’t cool at all). And that’s not a good look.

Mario - No Definition (full) - download
I think this may be one of my favorite songs to leak so far from Mario’s album, besides “Go!” The production, of course, is Timbaland, while the song was penned by my good friends from The Clutch. I am just overall excited about Mario’s project, but I don’t know, it’s been pushed back so many times. “How Do I Breathe” just recently got a video, so I’m guessing they’re putting some speed behind the release of his album.
50 Cent feat. Justin Timberlake - She Wants It (full) - download
People are excited about 50’s new album, Curtis. But not me. I think it’s funny how this sounds really Southern, it just reminds me of the South, which for some reason, Timbaland channels very well. I don’t ever remember 50 using any of today’s “super-producers” aside from Dr. Dre. I think it’s even funnier that 50 has added Justin Timberlake to the song. Either way, this’ll be nice for radio, regardless of how much I dislike the song. “She Wants It” is a smart move though, I can’t lie.

So, a couple of days ago, I posted a new J. Lo snippet for her new single, “Wrong When You’re Gone.” And I remember, “Hey! My girl Keri wrote and recorded this song!” I’ll admit, automatically, I was a little bias - because I am absolutely in love with Keri’s voice and I think she’s a great writer. And usually, my thought process is that the first person that did it, usually does it better. The thing is, we know that there are few people that J. Lo fools with in the industry on a vocal level - so, to me, it’s not contest. But I’d like to know what the readers think. Who sang it better? Keri Hilson or Jennifer Lopez? I think I know who’s gonna get this one…

SONG REMOVED
Nicole Scherzinger feat. T.I. - Whatever You Like
Nicole makes her first splash onto the solo scene with her first single, “Whatever You Like,” featuring T.I. I’m a little surprised that this was the same production from the Chilli song that I posted a couple months ago. Although, something about Nicole’s version just makes me go crazy. I first heard this song in a club, and I think that’s what cranked me up. I think that this will really go off on the radio, I think. Especially with production from the infamous Polow Da Don and lyrics pinned by Sean Garrett. Lately, they’ve been doing everything for everyone. I’m excited for Nicole’s debut, Her Name Is Nicole, which is due out September. Nicole has productions from Will.I.Am, Pharrell Williams and Timbaland. She’s pulled everyone for this record.

Mario - Why (full) - download
Lately, I’ve been excited to hear new Mario material. “Why” was a snippet I posted a few weeks ago, but the full version of the song, from Mario’s upcoming third album, “Go!” I’m digging the song, his voice has gotten super mature to me, and I’m digging a great bit of the material that has leaked from Mario’s album. I’m really digging this song, it’s got this groove that I really like.
J. Holiday - Crazy Love (snippet) - download
Although I’m not particularly in love with this song, I think that the tracks that I’ve heard from J. Holiday have proved to me that he has a really nice voice and is a talented vocalist. I find myself being annoyed by most male vocalist. Although J. Holiday’s tone is a little bit nasal, it’s not overly so, and he just seems to have good control over where his voice is going. I like it.

Today, T.I. (or T.I.P., whichever he relates to more today) releases his album, T.I. vs. T.I.P. - as a T.I. fan, I fully intend to go out and support. This is T.I.’s 5th studio album. And although T.I.’s fan base is large, he didn’t really gain mainstream crossover appeal until the huge success on his third album, Urban Legend. On Vs., which is split up into “acts,” we find T.I. struggling with his more refined side, and his ego from the streets, T.I.P. At first I wasn’t too sold on the concept, because I’d heard radio interviews of T.I./T.I.P. arguing with himself on air, and that didn’t float too well with me. But I guess as far as conceptual rap albums, he’s taking a step out and doing something different from most hip hip entertainers.
Make sure you log onto T.I.’s official site, trapmuzik.com or log onto his MySpace and show him some love. T.I. vs. T.I.P is in stores today, so make sure you head out to your local record store and cop yours or purchase online.
