People have been hitting me up non-stop about this song, but the truth of the matter is, it’s like 2 and a half years old. But I guess it’s cool, because this is the first time that there’s been a full CD quality version of it. Either way, “Bittersweet,” featuring John Mayer, was recorded during the “Late Registration” sessions. I’m glad to finally be hearing this song, I really like it. Not quite sure it didn’t make the cut for the last album, but I’m not sure how I would feel if it appeared on Kanye’s latest, which everyone is talking about. Just thought I’d post it up for those who had been e-mailing about it. Enjoy!

To go along with Angel’s new post about the upgraded Miss Raven-Symone (does she even want to be called that anymore?), I thought that it would a perfect time to add on that Raven’s actually releasing another album, and has a brand new single out, titled “Got It Girl.” It looks like she’s traded her Disney-esque sound and look from her last album, “This Is My Time,” for something that’s a little more up to date, and age-appropriate. And I’d assume what labels think will sell these days. I guess along with that, she traded better vocals for better tracks, because Raven’s basically singing the same note through out the entire song. Either way, I respect her hustle. Get it, girl!

This unreleased song from Rihanna’s latest, “Good Girl Gone Bad” sounds like the less-depressing cousin of a hit from her previous album, “Unfaithful.” Although I’m not particularly a fan of Rihanna vocally, she does something for me. I’m not sure what it is, but she has truly solidified herself as one of the summer’s hottest artists. “Cry” could have found itself somewhere at the ballad and midtempo heavy end of Rihanna’s album, but I guess it was just lost in transition.

I’m sorry that Rihanna is included in this post twice. Not only is she everywhere in the media, now you have to hear two songs in the review. But I had to post this, considering that I’ve gotten over five billion e-mails about this song. If you’ve read CL for a while, you know that I’m a Chris Brown fan - I respect what he does. I just found this remix to be really funny. And not only that, if I got another e-mail about this song, I was going to go insane.

I think I might just like this song because of the sample of “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” by Daft Punk, which just happens to be one of my favorites. Kanye sounds good too, I just think this is an overall nice song. I wasn’t really listening to the words, because I was so focused on how he sampled this song. I just think it’s very interesting what we’re using these days to be more innovative.

This is a bonus track that leaked from Rihanna’s “Good Girl Gone Bad.” I can totally see why this was left off of the album. It doesn’t really fit the overall feel of the album, beside it being a dance record. This song just seems like Rihanna hitting the studio to have a little fun. After listening to Rihanna’s album, I can completely appreciate what she’s trying to do, aside from her voice not really doing anything for me. But “Haunted” is definitely album-filler leftovers.
This new song really goes hard, I love it. Everybody snaps, I even love the simplicity of the production. I recieved a lot of e-mails about this song just today. I am really interested to see who’s project this goes on, Lupe Fiasco’s, or Kanye’s new album. To me, it just seems right that the 3 of them would get on a track together. I am really eager to get the production credits on this song as well. It sounds like it could possible be one of Pharrell’s productions, but I’m not exactly sure. Either way, I’m digging this song. It’s a good look for the three of them.

The hype behind Jagged Edge’s last album died down quickly and was supposed to be revived with the release of the single “Stunnas,” but that was short-lived as well. But it seems as though the group is back, and quite surprisingly, with an Ashanti guest feature. I am not, nor have I ever been a fan of Jagged Edge, but I could help but move a little around in my seat when I previewed the song. I like the feel, don’t neccessarily know what they’re saying, but it’s something about the groove of the song that I can appreciate. I’m assuming that Jermaine Dupri produced it, because like most of the songs he produces, he makes an announcement at the beginning, heh. Let me know what you think.
