Keri Hilson - High Heels (snippet) - REMOVED
I really laughed when I first heard this song. Upon reading the title, I was wondering what could possibly be talked about in this song, what the lyrics could have possibly been. This Cornerboyz produced this song, which is a surprise to me, because I thought Timbaland, Danja and Polow Da Don were producing her album in its entirety. However, it’s too far before her release to even say that this will even appear on the album. But either way, check Keri Hilson on MySpace.
Justin Timberlake - Summer Love (full) - download
Justin Timberlake’s “Summer Love” is lighting up iTunes these days, I didn’t even realize that he was releasing it as a single. But I guess it would make sense to release right at the beginning of, you guessed it, summer! “Summer Love” was always one of my favorite songs from JT’s “FutureSex/LoveSounds,” and I’ll sure say one thing. He did a good job of making this album stretch.

Kanye had to do a little redeeming of himself because these past couple of remixes he’s gotten on (which not so randomly have also been songs that he wishes he’d made) have been really wack to me. Although, automatically, I’m not drawn into this song, I can see the appeal it could have to his fans. However, I don’t think that this is single material at all. It just doesn’t take me to a place that Kanye West’s other singles have - it honestly, dones’t even sound like one of his productions. The song really doesn’t do anything for me. Lyrically, it doesn’t really do anything for me, and as far as the production, it doesn’t really give me what I need. And what’s up with Jeezy in the background? We’ll see…

T.I. feat. Wyclef Jean - You Know What It Is (full) - download
I was just watching something on MTV where T.I. was saying that this was going to be the song of the summer, and after listening, I really don’t see that for “You Know What It Is.” And honestly, why does every rapper have a song where they’ve at least said that, or it’s the title of the song? Either way, I was thinking that after the success of “Hips Don’t Lie,” Wyclef would come back on a huge production streak, but I was wrong - this really doesn’t do anything for me, and hope it’s not a reflection of what the rest of his album is about.
Murphy Lee feat. Young Dro - Hatin’ (full) - download
I remember there was a point in time where Nelly & the St. Lunatics were really a huge thing on the scene, and Murphy Lee was really supposed to be the stand-out Lunatic, but they kind of fell into the background, and until recently, the only thing I’ve heard from Murphy Lee is his verse on the “Throw Some D’s” remix. “Hatin’” is very reminiscent of something from the old St. Lunatics time too.

With the news of the week push-back of Kelly Rowland’s album, I was a little disappointed. But I guess the leaking of this new song, produced by Scott Storch kind of makes up for it. Although I don’t think that “Comeback” is a good representation of what the rest of the album is going to be like, I definitely see what Kelly was talking about as far as giving the album a more uptempo feel than “My Story.” Let’s hope that Kelly’s album doesn’t get pushed back again.

With all the success of Rihanna’s latest single, “Umbrella” featuring none other than Jay-Z, Rihanna is trying to let you know that she has staying power. She’s kicked out 3 albums in the past 3 years. Each of the albums though, Rihanna has tried to keep in touch with her Carribean roots. I think that this time around, Rihanna may have abandoned that. On “Shut Up & Drive,” it took me a little while to get into it, but towards the end, it has the vibe of an old 80’s pop record, and I can appreciate what she was going for on the song. I’ll repost as soon as we get the high quality version of it.

I’m not sure what the story is on this, but the internet is swarming about this “scandal.” Apparently, the ShoNuff-signed R&B group Nephu (myspace.com/nephumusic) recorded the new R. Kelly & Usher single “Same Girl” before the two R&B male sensations, and R. Kelly and Usher pulled a Beyonce, recorded the song, changed it up a little bit and released it. I don’t like the song anymore or any less, I just can’t believe that they really recorded this song, rumoredly without permission. That’s real dirty. More on this story later as more news comes out…

It’s been a good minute since Tank has released an album, but he’s been on everything else. Tank has really been good at being behind the scenes guy, but I am really ready for him to show that talent some more. You can hear him all over Jamie Foxx’s critical acclaimed, “Unpredictable” and he’s been working with everyone from Joe to Kelly Rowland. But it’s time that Tank get a little shine on his own, which is why I’m so please that he is releasing his third solo album, “Sex, Love & Pain,” which hits stores May 15th. With the great response from the single “Please Don’t Go,” I’m hoping that Tank garners the success that he deserves as an artist, not just a writer. Make sure you check out this highlight tracks from his album album, and make sure you pick it up in stores May 15th.
Unfortunately, I cannot post any tracks from Tank’s album, but be sure to hit Tank up on MySpace and show him some love or log onto tankmusic.com for more information. Remember, “Sex, Love & Pain” hits stores on May 15th.
