NEWS: JENNIFER HUDSON & SISTER JULIA TESTIFY AT MURDER TRIAL

Jennifer Hudson testified in court on Monday morning (April 23) in front of a judge and jury. Prosecutors chose the R&B singer to be the first to take the witness stand in the murder trial against William Balfour (pictured above), the estranged husband of Hudson’s sister Julia who is accused of killing Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson, & 7-year old nephew, Julian King back in 2008.

…An emotional Jennifer revealed how she never felt Balfour was a good fit for her sister and never agreed with her sister’s decision to marry him, saying “I told her over and over again to not marry him,” Hudson said, voice trembling, on the stand. “We did not like how he treated her.”

When asked when she last spoke to her mother, the singer broke down in tears and told the court that she “talked to her [mother] every single day.” She also shared how she fortunately got to see her family a week before they were murdered:

“It was my mother, my brother, my sister and my dog,” Hudson said, explaining that they had paid a surprise and welcome visit to her home. “I was so surprised. The whole family is here. That was the last time I saw them,” she said, crying. Thank God I had the opportunity.” [SOURCE]

Jennifer’s fiance David Otunga was also at the trial to provide Hudson with support. Her sister Julia also took the stand (VIEW NEWS VIDEO). Balfour has pleaded not guilty on all three counts of first-degree murder.

Early Monday morning, George Zimmerman was released from the Seminole County jail (View Video). The 28-year-old neighborhood watch volunteer who shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in February was granted bail at $150,000 on Friday.

Zimmerman, who made no comment to reporters, was escorted from jail by his bondsman, Michael Smith of Magic Bail Bonds, before he got into the backseat of a BMW and was driven away. His location is not being made public and may be outside Florida following numerous death threats. Outfitted with a GPS monitoring device, Zimmerman is required to maintain a 7 p.m.-to-6 a.m. curfew, surrender his passport, refrain from drugs or alcohol and have no guns.

Although his arraignment has been scheduled for May 8, Zimmerman may not appear as most defendants with private attorneys file pleas in advance and choose not to appear before the judge. Additionally, a hearing is scheduled for Friday regarding evidence being released to the public; Zimmerman is not expected to appear. Continue

Following a second-degree murder charge filed against George Zimmerman on Wednesday for the death of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, appeared on morning news shows including NBC’s Today discussing their reactions to Zimmerman’s arrest and charge.

What do you want to ask him?” Ms. Fulton replied, “I believe it was an accident. I believe that it just got out of control and he couldn’t turn the clock back. I would ask him, did he know that was a minor, that that was a teenager, and that he did not have a weapon?”
