Jennifer Hudson testified in court on Monday morning (April 23) in front of a judge and jury. Prosecutors chose the R&B singer to be the first to take the witness stand in the murder trial against William Balfour (pictured above), the estranged husband of Hudson’s sister Julia who is accused of killing Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson, & 7-year old nephew, Julian King back in 2008.
…An emotional Jennifer revealed how she never felt Balfour was a good fit for her sister and never agreed
with her sister’s decision to marry him, saying “I told her over and over again to not marry him,” Hudson said, voice trembling, on the stand. “We did not like how he treated her.”
When asked when she last spoke to her mother, the singer broke down in tears and told the court that she “talked to her [mother] every single day.” She also shared how she fortunately got to see her family a week before they were murdered:
“It was my mother, my brother, my sister and my dog,” Hudson said, explaining that they had paid a surprise and welcome visit to her home. “I was so surprised. The whole family is here. That was the last time I saw them,” she said, crying. Thank God I had the opportunity.” [SOURCE]
Jennifer’s fiance David Otunga was also at the trial to provide Hudson with support. Her sister Julia also took the stand (VIEW NEWS VIDEO). Balfour has pleaded not guilty on all three counts of first-degree murder.
