Hate it or love it, Janet Jackson is a musical icon and her innovation cannot be denied. So, I’m pretty sure all of us are interested in what she has to say about today’s R&B chicks.
Janet, recently sat down with BET.COM’s Kim Osorio, to speak about whether or not she feels like she has influenced the current R&B females out today.
KIM: With all the young R&B females in the game right now, do you see yourself or your influence in any of them?
JANET: You want me to answer that, honestly? Let’s say there are a few artists that I see myself in. It’s nothing bad to me at all. They all mention how I’ve inspired them in one way or another. Imitation is the best form of flattery, as the phrase goes. Everyone gets inspired. So it makes me smile and it’s okay, it really makes me smile. [SOURCE]
I was told, that her first response was sort of sarcastic (i.e. when she asks that rhetorical question) and then she tried to clean it up in the end. Whatever the case, all of those R&B chicks (*cough* Beyonce, Ciara, and them) took a page out of her book.
Janet also talked about J.D. (of course), her new fitness tape, and how many kids she wants.

Contrary to that horrible ass stereotype, black people can actually swim. Take for example, Cullen Jones, a three-time All-American swimmer out of North Carolina State. The 22 year old just inked a multi-year, multi-million dollar with NIKE. Jones is one of the fastest sprinters in swimming and is currently ranked first in the world in the 50-meter freestyle.
Here is what he had to say about getting all that money..
What’s it like being paid?
Cullen: I had some reporters ask me what it’s like to be paid now, how much different is it, is it a job. And my answer is swimming is something I love, and it is fun. The day that stops, that’s the day I stop swimming. I didn’t get to this point for the money. I love being nervous up on the blocks, and being hungry.

Congrats to him! Hopefully this will inspire many other black children to get their swim on! We need to end that stereotype.

Well she’s one mad female MC, that’s who…and she wants to set the record straight on a few things.
Recently, Fresh of XXL.com sat down to do an interview with Lucy regarding her beef with Jay-Z. Lucy gained attention (via the web mostly) after making a statement about Jay a.k.a Shawn Carter’s mother Gloria Carter - being a lesbian.
The rumor died down, but Lucy was once again in the spotlight after she posted a video on her myspace page confronting the whole situation. In the interview Lucy made some rather bold opinions of Jay-Z, stating that he is “like the Anti-Christ” and has people hypnotized:
KING: And why do you say that?
LUCY: Off his content. Honestly, this might sound strange but he is like an Anti-Christ. J-Hova? People chanting Hova, Hova, Hova. That is so wrong. And the title of his album is Kingdom Come?
KING: I guess I never really put that much thought into it.
LUCY: And his diamond / Roc-A-Fella sign is really just a triangle, which represents the pyramid; a secret society. These kids are saying why you going against Hova? It’s not Hova, it’s Jay-Z. He has hypnotized these people. It’s post subjective hypnotism. I’m serious.
KING: Like Michael Jackson in Budapest.
LUCY: Look at the influence he has on the people who look up to him. He glorifies murder, drug dealing, violence, etc. and people follow. That is scary. He is lead by the devil. He has sold his soul.
KING: That’s some pretty deep shit to say.
LUCY: It’s what I see. I feel like God has called upon me to do something about it. It’s crazy.
So what do you guys think, is she doing this for attention or does she actually have a point?
