‘ROUND THE WAY: OMARION SPEAKS ON RIHANNA & THE “SINISTER PART OF THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS”

Singer/Dancer Omarion, recently sat down with The Boombox and gave his opinion about the dark-side of the music industry, which has become a hot topic because of the whole Tiffany Evans/Rihanna controversy from a couple weeks ago. Well check out Omarion’s take on it:

I don’t personally know Rihanna’s beliefs but I think there’s a very dark and very sinister part of the entertainment business and I think it’s very visible,” he said. “This is something that a lot of people don’t look at [but for example] Michael Jackson used to be a Jehovah’s Witness and I remember hearing that he wanted to separate from the religion — and this was during the time that he was doing ‘Thriller’ [which ended up being] his biggest album.”

“Fast forward to now,” Omarion continued, “[and] it really made me think that there is a [time as an artist] where there’s going to be a choice. The[entertainment] world [dictates] that you have to be with three or four women, or do this in order to get that [and] I think it’s really interesting. With God and the industry, it’s really dark. The dark side is having to get in, there’s a certain submission you need to have. Just like a gang [initiation], so to speak. You might have to do something against your moral code. I’m not saying that it’s always this way, but when you’re someone that is young and you’re coming up in the industry and you really don’t have a grip on your morals it can be very dark. The game is just about over saturation.

“I don’t know if Rihanna [has fallen victim to those pressures]. I’ve never really heard her speak about it,” he said. “I hope that she doesn’t believe in that stuff and I don’t think that she does, but I don’t know. It’s not just been a Rihanna thing, [there's has been religious speculation] about a lot of artists.”

In related news, Omarion has a new album coming out in 2010 and his video for “I Get It In” will be hitting the net soon.

WHO ROCK’D IT BETTER: EVA SIMONS vs. RIHANNA w/ SIMILAR HAIRSTYLES

Rihanna is causing drama on the blogs yet again. A new promo photo from her upcoming album, Rated R was leaked to Rihanna Daily on Wednesday and it looks eerily similar to the promo shots that up and coming singer/songwriter Eva Simons released earlier this year. Some people are saying Riri swagger jacked Eva’s look!

Many of you may remember Eva from the posts we did on her last month featuring her song, “Silly Boy”. Everyone on youtube thought it was a new RIhanna and Lady Gaga track, but word quickly spread that Simons co-wrote and produced the track and she now has major label distribution for her upcoming debut album. All I know is that they could pass for twins if you look fast enough!

Funny thing is, is that both came on to the scene with completely different looks. Check them out below.

‘ROUND THE WAY: ROBIN THICKE & PAULA PATTON EXPECTING FIRST CHILD / LIL WAYNE PLEADS GUILTY TO GUN CHARGES

Congratulations is in order for Robin Thicke, 32, and wife Paula Patton, 33, because they are reportedly expecting their first child together. The high school sweethearts who wed in 2005 – are pictured above at the 2009 Angel Ball in New York City on Tuesday (October 20).

The singer/songwriter was quick to sing Paula’s praises.

She could make a marriage work with a chair,” he says of Patton who is currently shooting the Queen Latifah comedy, Just Wright. “She’s an incredible woman, and she’s very beautiful, so I’m just lucky to be with her.”

LIL WAYNE PLEADS GUILTY

In not so happy news, rapper Lil Wayne, 27, pleaded guilty in a Manhattan court room Thursday morning.

He is expected to get atleast a year for the two-year-old gun case and State Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon warned Lil Wayne that he wouldn’t be able later to withdraw the plea, as some people try to do.

“I’m not one of those people,” said the rapper, who sat in court in jeans and a hooded parka. He pulled up the hood and didn’t speak as he left the courthouse with members of his entourage, who piled into four black SUVs. He’s due back in court Dec. 15 before his sentencing date, which has yet to be set.

In related news, he is scheduled for trial in Arizona in March on felony drug possession and weapons charges stemming from a January 2008 arrest at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint. He has pleaded not guilty in that case.
