June 14. Yesterday a close friend to R&B superstar Ashanti confirmed to MediaTakeOut.com what people have been speculating for weeks - that Ashanti is four months pregnant.
And the pregnancy may explain Ashanti’s new look. As the below photos show, the sexy songstress has gone through some changes in recent months. The first photo, taken last year, shows a slim and trim Ashanti. The second photo, taken a few weeks ago, shows Ashanti with a slight tummy bulge. It also shows that Ashanti’s nose has widened and she appears to have a natural “glow” - both common indicators of pregnancy.
Many industry insiders are speculating that famed rapper Nelly is the father of the child. Nelly and Ashanti have been dating for nearly three years and seem very happy together. And according to one of Nelly’s pals, he’s gotten so close to Ashanti that he’s considering marriage.
But one insider tells MediaTakeOut.com that she believes the father of the child is Irv Gotti, the married head of Ashanti’s record label. Gotti, who openly admits to cheating on his wife, was linked romantically to Ashanti early in her career. The two reportedly rekindled their romance earlier this year while working on her new album.
We asked a representative for Ashanti for a comment on the pregnancy, but the rep declined. (source)

Dianne Houston (Take the Lead) will write a biopic on the life of rapper Missy Elliot for Universal Pictures. Robert De Niro has hopped on board as a producer.
Born in Portsmouth, VA, in 1971, Elliott began her musical career with the girl group Sista. She then segued to a producing career before breaking out as a solo artist more than 10 years ago. (source)

No it’s not that Jamie Kennedy show that comes on MTV, it’s a brand new talent show, via VH-1.
US network VH1 is launching a reality talent competition to find the next EMINEM.
The cable network is creating EGOTRIP PRESENTS THE WHITE RAPPER SHOW, a comedic reality series that will test the rap skills and urban knowledge of 12 aspiring white hip-hop artists.
White rap legend MICHAEL “MC SEARCH” BERRIN will host the show. Contestants will live together in the South Bronx section of New York City and participate in a series of challenges to test their music talent and ability to mesh with black culture. VH1 executive vice president of programming MICHAEL HIRSCHORN insists the show will be equal parts culture study and comedy. He says at the end of the day “they’ll have to earn credibility and the respect of the people in the Bronx”. (Source)

A member of Dem Franchize Boyz and seven other people were arrested during a raid on a recording studio in Atlanta yesterday (June 13).
According to Channel 2 Action News, Atlanta authorities caught the aforementioned individuals trying to flush drugs and money down the toilet when they swept into the studio of Making Big Moves Records, after getting a tip of drug transactions occurring at the facility.
“They were in the bathroom and they were trying to flush a lot of the drugs down the toilet,” Atlanta Police Officer Richard Light told reporters. “They just had too much and couldn’t flush it all down.”
Authorities divulged that they seized more than 11 pounds of marijuana, $150,000 in cash, two handguns and a stack of pornography. (READ MORE via SOHH)
