AWARENESS: PREVIEW ‘MISS REPRESENTATION’

Miss Representation tackles the misrepresentation of females by the media, exposing how women and girls are told and shown that value lies primarily in their youth, beauty and sexuality. The documentary film, which includes interviews with noted politicians and media personalities and personal stories from teenage girls, premiered at Sundance earlier this year and also deals with the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence. Miss Representation will make its broadcast debut tonight on OWN at 9 ET.

MUSIC VIDEO: RIHANNA – “WE FOUND LOVE”

As promised on her Twitter, pop starlet Rihanna releases the video for her first single, the Calvin Harris-produced “We Found Love.” The video features Rihanna and a Chris Brown look-a-like, gallivanting around the world, in love and not caring about anything else.

The track is lifted from Rihanna’s sixth studio album, Talk That Talk, which is slated to hit stores in the United States on November 22nd. The video was directed by friend and collaborator, Melina.

NEWS UPDATE: McDONALD’S WORKER WHO BEAT DOWN UNRULY CUSTOMERS APPEARS IN COURT

RAYON MCINTOSH APPEARS IN A MANHATTAN COURT ON OCTOBER 18TH.

Rayon McIntosh, who is now best known as the former McDonald’s employee that beat down two unruly customers with a metal rod [ VIEW VIDEO HERE ], appeared in a Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday (October 18) and argued self defense.

31 year-old McIntosh was seen on video hitting Denise Darbeau and her friend Rachel Edwards, (both 24), with a three-foot-long metal rod (usually used to clean the griddle) after they jumped the counter and went after him. The whole thing sparked after he questioned the validity of a fifty dollar bill they were using.

While in court, his lawyer, Theodore Herlich said this:

it’s very clear [the two women] were coming after my client, who had in effect retreated to the rear part [of the kitchen] and was not seeking a confrontation,” Herlich said, adding that his client didn’t know if the women were armed at the time [ READ MORE ]

Assistant District Attorney Jamie Mendoza partially agreed, but felt he went too far, since one of the “victims” now has a skull fracture and other serious injuries..

“Not only did she curse out the hardworking employees at the McDonald’s working the graveyard shift, but then she did go over the counter into an area which is prohibited to the public. Continue
