On the third Monday of January, schools, federal offices and the like across America remain closed as we celebrate the birth, life and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
It is a time for the nation to remember the injustices that Dr. King fought; a time to remember his fight for the freedom, equality and dignity of all races and peoples; a time to remember the message of change through nonviolence. Although many people see this as “a day without work” or “a day away from school,” it is so much more than that; it is the celebration of equality, the celebration of freedom and the celebration of a truly inspiring individual. Teairra Mari is currently in the studio working on her anticipated sophomore album, At That Point which is going to be released this Spring.
The 21 year-old invited Concrete Loop to a recording session at Will Smith’s exclusive studio ‘The Boom Boom Room’ to listen to some of her latest songs and I must say the album is coming out nicely.
Her lead single, ‘Hunt 4 U’ featuring Pleasure P is moving up the charts and Teairra recently secured a lucrative deal with a top record company and plans on coming hard this year, after about 4 year hiatus.
Below are photos from the session and top producers The Movement (JB & Corron) can be seen in a couple of these shots. Next up? Teairra is down to Miami to work with the popular producers, The Runners.

Johannes Mehserle, who shot Oscar J. Grant III, has pleaded not guilty.
Mehserle resigned his job as a Bay Area Rapid Transit police officer days after the shooting, and he was arrested in Nevada.
The court proceedings took less than five minutes, and the judged ordered the former office be held until his next hearing, scheduled for Jan. 26.
Newly released court documents allege that Mehserle shot Grant while Grant had his hands behind his back and another officer was kneeling on his neck.
BELL SPEAKS ON SUICIDE ATTEMPT
Mychal Bell says he felt pressured to be perfect after his Jena 6 case was over. Following his arrest on a shoplifting charge, he used his Christmas money on a gun to kill himself.
The 18-year-old says he pointed the gun at his head and pulled the trigger, but the gun misfired and he aimed it at his chest to try again. The bullet ripped through his body, and he fell to the floor of his grandmother’s home in Monroe on December 29.
In an interview with CNN, Bell said:
“It just got to the point where I just couldn’t take it anymore. I just wanted to show everybody that I really wasn’t the type of kid that everybody was making me out to be. Nobody will ever be perfect, but it’s like that’s where my mind was. You need to be perfect.”
Bell said he felt people were constantly watching him, hoping he’d fail: “‘Just mess up, just mess up.’ There was a lot of pressure on me.’”

♫ Ciara - Don’t Remember (full) - listen
This is a very interesting song from Ciara, taken from her Fantasy Ride sessions. There are so many songs about drinks out nowadays, but this is really a different perspective. As far as I can tell, that’s Ne-Yo on the background vocals, and he’s responsible for some of the writing. I actually am really digging this song. It seems as though Fantasy Ride is shaping up to be a pretty solid project from the new material that’s been surfacing. Vocally, I like what Ciara is doing towards the end of this song too. Nice work.
♫ Bobby Valentino - Butterfly Tattoo (full) - listen
Check out this new track from Bobby Valentino’s new album, Rebirth. The track is produced by Los Da Maestro, who is largely responsible for production on The Dream’s last album, Love/Hate, as well as the hugely popular first single from J. Holiday’s “Bed.” The production on the song is solid — even the vocal arrangement, and whoever vocal produced Bobby V. on the track did an amazing job, but haven’t we heard about butterfly tattoos from Bobby Valentino already. Just wondering.
