After inking a deal with Universal earlier this year, Lil’ Kim is reportedly set to find “America’s Next Top Rapper” alongside music video director Little X and record producer Rockwilder.
According to its website, the series will launch winter 2011 and is the first televised hip-hop reality show competition to be broadcast on cable, online, via mobile app as well as digital video player Roku. While it costs $200 to enter, the winner will reportedly receive $100,000 in cash and prizes which includes the following:
A distribution deal from Universal Music
A professional video shoot by Director (Little) X
A single produced by Rockwilder
A feature by Lil Kim
$20,000 in cash
A booking agent
A publicist
And a national tour
While no official word has been given, registration is open for auditions.
Remember R&B crooner Carl Thomas? The former Bad Boy signee released his last album, So Much Better, on independent label Bungalo Records in 2007, but he’s back with new music and has signed with a new label.
Carl says fellow soul singer Maxwell served as inspiration to make music again:
“I saw my good brother Maxwell and I listened to his last project before it came out and it reminded me of the integrity that we are supposed to be having as R&B artists. It reminded me of how much of an honor it was to uphold this lineage of Black music. It got the ball rolling for me again.

Nicki Minaj stopped by The Ellen Degeneres Show to surprise a 8-year-old English girl, named Sophia Grace Brownlee and her cousin, Rosie after they were invited to come and talk about their viral home video performance of Minaj’s single, “Super Bass”.
Once the little ball of energy saw Nicki Minaj pop up behind her, she couldn’t stop screaming out of excitement. Brownlee was ready to perform in front of the audience and her idol.
