THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW

Monica feat. Twista – Hell No! (full) – download / Why Here (full) – download
Miss Monica’s album is really coming together. This song, which I’d heard about, but it finally leaked, is produced by my main man Bryan-Michael Cox. He’s really on his game this year, doing it way big! I’ve always been a Monica fan. This is another track where Monica takes a stab at a little flow, so she’s rapping again. As you probably guessed, this is another scorned woman track from her. I hope here’s some songs on her album where she’s actually satisfied with a relationship! The second song is Jermaine Dupri-produced. Another relationship gone wrong.

Johnta Austin – Dope Fiend (full) – download
So, I was digging the other Johnta Austin songs that I posted a while back, but this one is a little far-fetched for me. The day I compare being in love to being a “dope fiend” is the day that there’s a problem. If the name Johnta Austin isn’t familiar to you, his music should be. He co-wrote many of Mariah Carey’s chart-topping hits from “Emancipation” album, so I guess you could call him another writer-turned-artist. No word on when the album comes out, but this is the third bit of material I’ve heard.

MINI-ROUND UP: CHRISTINA WON’T WORK WITH PHARRELL, PLUS MORE

August 4th, 2006
chris_pharrell.jpgPop star Christina Aguilera has slammed reports she has been planning to collaborate with “The Neptunes.” Insisting, she would rather go her own way than work with the hip-hop producers.

Aguilera is convinced most chart music sounds unoriginal because too many hitmakers are working with the Pharrell Williams’ outfit and she has no intention of going the same way. She says, “I have no interest in working with the Neptunes. Everyone is using the same producers.” (SOURCE)

OUTKAST BRINGS MORE HEAT!

Looks like OutKast is bringing us more heat, with Idlewild! They are DEFINITELY back. Big Boi & Dre are rapping together this time. “Hollywood Divorce” is definitely hot. Weezy F. Baby delivers a really hot verse, with Andre 3000 singing the hook, and yes, he’s rapping again, people! Big Boi, of course, is always giving great punchline with the “The Train.” It is also the sickness, loving it. I’m really feeling the new material, and both videos that have been released. Idlewild, the movie is set to release August 25th, and the album, with features from Scar and Janelle Monae, comes out that week as well, on the 22nd. Make sure you pick it up!
