Here are some Candids of Usher going to visit the play ‘Chicago’ in NYC. Word is he just signed on to join the hit broadway musical as Billy Flynn.
The chart-topping R&B singer-songwriter will star in the hit musical as slick lawyer Billy Flynn for six weeks beginning Aug. 22.
He’s the latest superstar from another part of the entertainment universe to tackle Broadway, joining a list that includes screen actors Julia Roberts (“Three Days of Rain”) and Denzel Washington (“Julius Caesar”), entertainment mogul Sean Combs (“A Raisin in the Sun”), television actress Christina Applegate (“Sweet Charity”) and country singer Reba McEntire (“Annie Get Your Gun”).
“We’re trying to bring a new audience to ‘Chicago,’ and Usher is someone who can help us do that,” said Barry Weissler, the producer of the musical, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in October.
“He’s also a phenomenal performer, and he’s perfect for the role.”
Usher – who was in New York yesterday for a costume fitting and was expected to attend the show last night – did not have to audition. (READ MORE)
