DALLAS AUSTIN IMPRISONED IN DUBAI

June 24th, 2006

Producer Dallas Austin in prison in Dubai. The man behind hits for TLC and other stars, is accused of transporting drugs into that country, according to the NY Daily News. Reports say he was on his way to Naomi Campbell’s birthday party, which happened last month.

Campbell’s b-day party was celebrated over a 3-day period at the Burj Al Arab hotel. Her boyfriend, Dubai oil heir Badr Jafar, rented out a large section of the ultra-expensive hotel. Each day had a theme: “All White,” “Hip Hop” and “Brazilian Samba.”

Being caught with drugs in an Arab country is not a smart move. And yes, you guessed it. Dubai, which is a member state of the United Arab Emirates, has strict drug policies and a reputation for a stern justice system. The country has been known to levy death sentences, albeit in extreme cases, for convicted drug traffickers. Even possession of small quantities of various drugs can result in lengthy jail sentences. He better hope Naomi Campbell’s crazy ass can help him out, or it’s over with.

MADONNA HATES MARIAH!

June 24th, 2006

madonnahah.jpgA spokesperson for Madonna has denied she “laughed hysterically” after hearing news of poor ticket sales for Mariah Carey’s upcoming U.S. tour.

Reports in the American press suggest the music icon took great pleasure in the apparent news of her pop rival struggling to fill the venues for her upcoming live dates. The New York Daily News claims Madonna holds a grudge against Carey, following a disagreement between the pair earlier on in their careers.

Madonna laughed hysterically. She has been asking her tour promoters to email her Mariah’s sales,” a “source” told the paper.

However, Madonna’s spokeswoman denied the reports, insisting: “She has no negative feelings toward Mariah.”

Meanwhile, Mariah’s spokesperson said the live dates were set to be a great success, commenting: “Her tour is selling well. She’s cancelled a few dates so she can add shows in larger cities.” [SOURCE]

THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW

June 24th, 2006

Mary J. Blige feat. Jay-Z – Turn Off the Lights (full) – download
I dig this song, but I’m not sure why people are reaching so high to compare this to “Deja Vu.” Is it because Jay-Z is on it? Anyways, to be completely honest, to me, this doesn’t have the potential to be the “song of the summer” like everyone’s making it out to be. But that still doesn’t stop me from liking it. But Mary has definitely been on top of her game lately.

Trey Songz – Performa (full) – download
My homeboy Bei Maejor produced this joint, I’m feeling it. I really dug Trey Songz’s first album, and I’m hoping that his sophomore album, “Trey Day,” has as much to offer. “Performer” is set to be the first single from his upcoming album. I don’t think a release date has been confirmed and I’m not sure when the song is set to hit radio, but I’m really proud of Mr. Maejor! Do your thing. Check out Bei Maejor and Trey on MySpace!
