Following the Grammys last week, R&B singer Fantasia Barrino shared that she had been disappointed in the award show for not including her in the Aretha Franklin Tribute performance. The 26 year-old won an award that night, but felt slighted. She shared that she looked up to Franklin as an idol and “should have been on that stage.”
Well Aretha Franklin heard of Barrino’s disappointment and responded quite frankly:
“I was sorry to hear that Fantasia was upset because she did not get the opportunity to participate in my GRAMMY Tribute this year. I recall that in the past, Fantasia participated in both my MusicCares Person of the Year Tribute and my United Negro College Fund Tribute. Fantasia is still young in the business and although we all love and appreciate her she must understand that in this business of show business she will not always get to participate in everything she would like to participate in. I’m sure it was not an intentional omission. I will see Fantasia over the summer here in Detroit.”
Rihanna’s Restraining Order Lifted Against Chris Brown
Finally singer Chris Brown and Rihanna Fenty can go back to their regular life schedules. Brown appeared in an LA court room on Tuesday afternoon in regards to the five year restraining order placed on him by Rihanna. The order was scheduled to expire in 2014, but now after two years of community service and domestic violence sessions, Brown can do his hallelujah, freedom dance. The 21 year-old is no longer restrained from being within 50 yards of Fenty, so long as he does not harass, annoy or molest her.
According to Rihanna’s lawyer, she does not have a problem with the order being lifted.
