Meet KING. This dope trio hails from Los Angeles and consists of twin sisters, Paris and Amber Strother and singer Anita Bias. Relatively new the music scene, they are already getting some major co-signs – including praises from ?uestlove and Erykah Badu.
According to their official site, they write and produce (Paris produces their tracks) all of their music and even made their first official video by hand! Check out the video below and also make sure to get their EP too! Definitely keeping my eyes (and ears) on these talented ladies.
Meet Nabiha. Born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark, the singer/songwriter recently released her first single and new video entitled “Deep Sleep” on Border Breakers Records. Citing reggae, disco, rock, and R&B as major influences in her music, she also incorporated a Malian lullabye that her mom use to sing to her as a child at the end of “Deep Sleep”.
No news of an album release in the US, but if you’re in Denmark look for it in February 2010. Her video is below.
Meet V.V. Brown. We’ve been watching this singer/songwriter/model for a few months now and thought it was due time to do a spotlight on her. The U.K. based V.V. has been performing throughout festivals and tours all over Europe, promoting her debut album, Traveling Like the Light, (currently available in the U.K.)
Describing her sound as “musical mashed potatoes”, she draws influences from 50s pop and electronica. With the release of her promo single “Crying Blood” she has been making steady waves throughout the music industry. Peep her latest videos for “Shark In The Water” and “Game Over” below and check out her official site for more info.
Meet Collins Pennie. This actor/singer/dancer/model is probably going to be best known for his upcoming role in the anticipated movie remake of ‘FAME’. The Brooklyn native, spent half of his childhood in numerous foster homes only to move out on his own at age of 15. Never giving up on his dreams, he is currently working on his music (one of his songs is located above) and budding acting career.
You’ve probably seen his face in some videos from Beyonce or Diddy and on the small screen on “As The World Turns” or “Law & Order” but according to him, the sky is the limit for his career.
Check out Collins’ official myspace for more info on his music & acting career. And look out for Collins this weekend when FAME is released to theaters.
