Yesterday we had our annual “Feed the Children” food drive. What an amazing event! So many families came out and collected food for Thanksgiving. It was such a great feeling to make a difference in someone’s holiday. No matter how big or small, giving back is what it’s all about. I’m looking forward to the Christmas holiday to do it all again! Thanks to the Boys and Girls club and all the volunteers for making this event a huge success! We could not have did it without you guys.

Mary J. Blige and Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN) co-creator Steve Stoute address the public during the opening of the Mary J. Blige Center for Women on Thursday in Yonkers, New York.
The Center is the first of its kind and serves as a pilot program for what FFAWN hopes will be similar centers in communities in need across the country.

In light of the tragic death of 16 year-old Derrion Albert, here are a few organizations throughout the nation that you can check out to STOP THE VIOLENCE around your community. Stop supporting ignorance, lies and hate and go with something more positive. Our future depends on it.
kidsofftheblock.org – Located in Chicago, Kids Off The Block’s mission is to give at-risk low income youth positive alternatives to gangs, drugs, violence, truancy, and the juvenile justice system. They accomplish this through Tutoring/Mentoring, Music, Drama, Sports, and Local/Out-of-Town Trips.
stophandgunviolence.org – is a non-profit organization committed to the prevention of gun violence through education, public awareness, effective law enforcement and common sense gun laws.
menstoppingviolence.org – Men Stopping Violence is a social change organization dedicated to ending men’s violence against women.
