‘ROUND THE WAY: BISHOP EDDIE LONG WANTS SOME OF THE SETTLEMENT MONEY BACK + MORE LAWSUITS

I guess Bishop Eddie Long can’t catch a break! It has been over a year since the whole scandel involving himself and 5 of his accusers. Now that the millions of dollars have been settled in the designated pockets, Mr. Long is now demanding a partial refund from 3 of his accusers after discovering their breach in contract:

The letter, sent this week by the Atlanta law firm Drew Eckl & Farnham, alleges that Jamal Parris, Spencer LeGrande and Centino Kemp violated terms of a confidentiality agreement outlined in the settlement with Long and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. The firm is seeking at least $900,000 already paid the three accusers, according to people involved in the settlement but not authorized to speak publicly. That figure is a portion of the total settlement with the three men. [Source]

The letter apparently outlines Long’s “demand for arbitration”, though no legal documents were filed. Atlanta litigator Hayden Pace says, “The letter could simply be a threat. No one’s going to turn over the money just simply because you’ve asked for it. You’re going to have to earn it back by establishing your right to it in the courts.” (oop…) Continue

According to the ReddingNewsReview.com, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church pastor Bishop Eddie Long has settled out of court and has agreed to pay $24.8M to the four young males who accused him of sexually molesting them:

The source, who claims to be familiar with the details of the settlement and did not wish to be identified, said that Long refused to give a public apology, which ended up costing him more.

What began as a $2 million agreement to settle the case for each of the four men quickly rose to $5.5 million for the respective plaintiffs, the source said, only because Long refused to publicly admit guilt.

The men are to divide $2.2 million equally and then receive $400,000 in payments until the money is paid out over the next 20 years, the source said. The final figure comes to $22 million for the four men and $2.8 million for the plaintiffs attorneys.

Reports say his congregation and church goers are slowly depleting in number, including his former elder Rev. Bernice King. It is also said that Mr. Long has asked his church members for donations of up to $500-$1000 in an effort to expand the mega institution into the cities of Denver, CO & Birmingham, AL.

Television personality Sherri Shepard of ABC’s The View spoke on the topic earlier this week and practically bashed Bishop Eddie Long for his apparent actions of guilt
