Usher and Chris Brown were among the performers at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday (May 20) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The airing also featured a special Whitney Houston tribute by singer-songwriter John Legend and singer-actress Jordin Sparks. Whitney’s teenage daughter Bobbi Kristina and sister-in-law Pat Houston took the stage to accept the Millennium Award in behalf of the late and great superstar. Before the NY Giants brought in the win for this year’s Superbowl, Madonna headlined the half-time show and performed some of her popular hit songs. During her acrobatic performance of “Music,” the electro pop duo LMFAO joined in and performed a mashup of “Music,” with their singles “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy And I Know It.”
Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. also performed with the singer in “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” during which a rebelious M.I.A. flipped the bird on live TV. Ceel-lo also made his over the top debut as well, marching out as a drum major during a performance of “Open Your Heart.” The two singers, alongside a choir of singers ended the show with “Like A Prayer”.
