There was some definite black star power at The 84th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday (February 26) in Hollywood, California. Held at the Hollywood & Highland Center, the event showcased some historic moments in black history.
Actress Octavia Spencer took home the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ Oscar for her portrayal of Minny in ‘The Help’. Mogul Oprah Winfrey and legendary actor James Earl Jones both received the ‘Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award’ for their humanitarian work. Director T.J. Martin (pictured above next to Diddy) became the first African-American director to win an Oscar for his documentary, ‘Undefeated’. Diddy, who is an executive on the film is not listed as a winner on the official winner’s list, so we’re not sure if he will receive an award.
If you’re wondering why producer Pharrell Williams made an appearance, he played in the official band (along with Sheila E) during the ceremony – helping to co-write exclusive scores with composer Hans Zimmer. Last but not least, Grammy award winning singer/musician Esperanza Spalding performed a beautiful rendition of Louis Armstrong’s classic song, “What a Wonderful World” during the ‘In Memoriam’ part of the show.
Make sure to check out more photos below and if you missed the telecast, VIDEO IS AVAILABLE on the official Oscar website! Congrats to all the winners/nominees! Continue

Could you imagine Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle coming together for a multi-city comedy tour? Well according to funnyman Chris Rock, he’s still working on getting Chappelle in on the idea. Who ignited this idea of doing a two-man comedy tour? Oh, why Kanye West and Jay-Z of course:
During a chat with Vulture about his movie 2 Days In New York,
Rock briefly talked to us about his upcoming projects, and while he didn’t have much to say about his role in the omnibus comedy What To Expect When You’re Expecting (“Yeah, that’s coming out”), he’s pretty excited to go out on tour.
“I’ve been talking to Chappelle a lot. Been trying to get Chappelle to go on tour,” he told us. Those reports had surfaced briefly in October, but we’d heard nothing since then; is Rock really going to make this a reality? “You know I’m not the hard one,” he said, laughing. “But I’m trying to make that happen. After seeing Kanye and Jay-Z, I was like, ‘Me and Dave should do this.’” [Source]
Who knows if this will ever come to light. Chappelle has been against doing shows since he signed off of his Comedy Central show. Would you be willing to go and see them both crack up a crowd? If you could choose, which two comedians would you love to see on tour together?
