Singer/songwriter & Odd Future member Frank Ocean dropped an official music video for his track, “Acura Integurl”. This song did not make the list for his most recent mixtape nostalgia, ULTRA, but has become a favorite since it’s leak on the web. This simple yet scenic video was directed by Dave Wilson and filmed in the mountains somewhere on the West Coast.
On related news, Nas recently shared his thoughts on the refreshing singer in an interview with Billboard magazine:
“Frank Ocean is a new gust of wind, to just move things out the way and give us something new. I had the chance to meet Frank and it was great. He’s just somebody who is young and he just has so much to give the world. I can see he just has so many great ideas. Some of his lyrics, I kind of understand them a little too well so I’m a fan.”
And we’re a fan too. Last week, it was announced that Def Jam is preparing to re-release the New Orleans native’s popular single “Novacane” on iTunes on May 31st as well as the entire mixtape with newer tracks on July 26.

Since garnering so much attention from his street LP, Nostalgia/Ultra, folks have been taking huge interest in Frank Ocean. He’s been writing and working with everyone, and it seems that tracks that have been intended to be demos are surfacing all over the place. Check out the latest, “U Got It” from Frank and keep it locked to CL for more information on his future projects.
Meet Frank Ocean. A member of the indie hip hop collective Odd Future, the 23-year-old Frank Ocean is taking matters into his own hands and releasing his street LP, Nostalgia/Ultra.
It might come as a bit of a shock, considering the music that fans have heard Ocean produce with Odd Future, however, when listening to the LP, it’s clear as to why this body of work has caught the attention of several industry heavyweights, as well as landed him a deal with Island Def Jam. Nostalgia/Ultra is definitely a departure from the group’s material, but Frank’s solo project is an amazing fusion of pop, alternative, down beat electronica and soul.
For those new to him, Frank sums himself up pretty easily:
“My name is Frank Ocean. I grew up in New Orleans. I’m from Odd Future. I wrote Nostalgia/Ultra in spring 2010. I think I have Synesthesia. I feel more like some type of visual artist than a musician when I’m working. I just mean my process is more about imagery. Maybe people wanna call it a certain genre because I’m a black guy singing. I don’t really mind. To be honest, I don’t think much about it. I categorize it in iTunes as Bluegrass or Death Metal usually. I’m pretty sure I have Synesthesia though. I also wear a Kippah from time to time. I smoke Marijuana for anxiety. Oh, and I used to battle-rap in highschool.”
