After many Kentucky Derby attendees made it clear that they didn’t want Mary J. Blige to sing the national anthem with riff and runs (i.e. The 61st NBA All-Star Game), the “No More Drama” singer confidently sang the “The Star-Spangled Banner” as neutral as possible but of course added a little MJB flavor on it.
Mary’s sister LaTonya Blige, Star Jones and Ice T & Coco attended the 138th Annual Kentucky Derby and showed some support as well. Check out her rendition of the anthem and more pics below.
Longtime rapper/actor Ice-T flexed his directorial muscles at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year with Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap, which offers an insightful look at and sound of rap music featuring interviews and performances with the legends who’ve made it what it is. Rapper turned actor Ice-T and Nicole ‘Coco’ Austin along with their bulldog Spartacus host The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Atlantic City over the weekend In Atlantic City, New Jersey. The duo performed and talked to the crowd and were spotted mingling in the VIP with some fans. Their show ‘Ice Loves Coco’ airs on Sundays on the E! network.
