On a couple of different occasions, we’ve featured Memphis native K. Michelle a couple times, but now the Jive Records signee is ready to release her first official single, “Fakin’ It,” featuring none other than Missy Elliott.
“Fakin’ It” comes from K.’s debut album, which is slated for release at the top of next year. The track was produced by Blac Elvis and penned by Michelle herself. She prides herself most on her vocals, her pen and her experiences.
Jordin Sparks – S.O.S. (Let the Music Play) (full) – listen
Jordin Sparks is gearing up to release her sophomore studio album, Battlefield this month, and material other than the lead single of the same title has begun to leak. I’m actually really digging all the music the music that I’ve heard from Jordin. This time around, she is going for a sound that she calls “more Beyonce meets Rihanna.” And I can definitely hear the influence. Jordin’s got a big voice, and she’s found a way to find a happy medium with it over this pop tracks.
R. Kelly – Hatin’ On Him (full) – listen
R. Kelly is working diligently on his Untitled album, which is set for release for sometime this year. There’s no official single released as of yet, but you can expect a flurry of unreleased material and remixes to leak in the future. “Hatin’ On Him” is of the latest material to hit the internet. It’s not any different from anything else we’ve heard, and nothing really stand-out or stellar about the track. So we’ll see.
We’ve featured K. Michelle before here before in our Hot or Not section before, and now she back again with her brand new buzz single, “Self-Made,” featuring none other than Miami native, Trina. The track was produced by Drumma Boy, who is also from K. Michelle’s hometown of Memphis.
I recently got to have a sit-down with the Jive signee, and have been really impressed with her voice and her material – she doesn’t want you to be fooled by all the gloss, glitz and heavy basslines. K.’s got more up her sleeve within the coming months. VISIT HER MYSPACE HERE.
