Opening statements in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray for the 2009 death of The King of Pop Michael Jackson took place today in California today.
Prosecutor David Walgren opened with a photo of Jackson’s lifeless body while describing the gross negligence at the hand of Conrad Murray along with a voice recording Murray recorded of his then drug-induced patient describing his plans at wowing his fans with his tour and opening a children’s hospital.
Prosecution concentrated on the amounts of propofol that Murray had personally ordered for Michael, in which he had delivered to his girlfriends home and the fact that it wasn’t until two days after MJ’s death that Murray admitted to giving nightly doses of the powerful drug everyday for more than 2 months to put him to sleep.
“(Murray) Repeatedly acted with gross negligence, repeatedly denied care, appropriate care, to his patient, Michael Jackson, and it was Dr. Murray’s repeated incompetent and unskilled acts that led to Michael Jackson’s death,” stated Walgren

Katherine Jackson talked with the Today Show on Wednesday morning (May 4) and shared her thoughts on Conrad Murray possibly being sentenced to four years, how it isn’t enough time in jail and how the kids are doing now that their father has been gone. The 81 year-old matriarch spoke out about the misconception of Michael being a child molester as well as what she misses most about her son:

On the rumor of Michael being a molester:
“As far as Michel being a child molester, that’s the biggest lie ever been told. I guess nobody seemed to know that his first accuser, after Michael died there was an article that he came and he confessed that Michael never touched him. It was a big lie and his father just wanted to be rich. And he said, ‘I’m so sorry I didn’t get to tell him before he died.’”
On what she misses most about Michael:
“You know I can’t say what I miss most, but I just missed him period. I just miss him for not being here. I miss his voice. I miss his singing. Sometimes when we’re around, he’d start to sing. And he’d end a song and sometimes I’d ask him, you know to sing it again because I just loved the way of his voice.”
Such a strong woman. A very happy 81st birthday to you, Katherine!
International superstar Michael Jackson is seen leaving the Beverly Hills Hotel earlier this weekend in California. His children: Blanket, Paris Jackson and Prince Michael Jackson Jr. were seen laving the hotel as well. And it must have been a Jackson family affair of sorts because his father Joe Jackson and mother Katherine Jackson were spotted following closely behind.
The fam visited a doctors office in Beverly Hills and the kids were seen shopping for new toys as MJ looked on. Check out the pics.
