Singer Mariah Carey celebrated her 41st birthday on Sunday (March 27). During her happy day, the R&B/pop diva began experiencing intense labor contractions and was rushed to the hospital. Upon arrival, her contractions were eventually controlled and she was later sent back home. After arriving home, Mariah was back at it, replying to her adoring fans and tweeting about her experience with #dembabies (in reference to her twin babies):
Mariah went as far as painting her baby bump with “dembabies” written across the top her belly. She even has two band-aids over her tummy. LOL Lawd…Guess she wanted to make the babies a little festive, too…
Da Brat (aka Shawntae Harris) spoke with Concrete Loop earlier this week in a very candid interview describing her time in prison. The rapper (who was released on Monday), shocked a lot of people back ’07 when she was sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting a nightclub waitress.
Proclaiming she now has control over her temper, Brat spoke about what she learned from the experience, writing a book and so much more. Make sure to check out the full interview below.

DA BRAT: Hi Angel!
ANGEL: Hey what’s up Da Brat? Thank you for sitting with us and talking to us.
DA BRAT What’s happening? I’m chillin, chillin’. Just got finished eating me some steamed vegetables and tilapia.
ANGEL: Ok, I was going to ask you, what was one of the first things you did when you got out?
DA BRAT I went to this restaurant in the country called the Huddle House and had me some country fried steak w/ a lot of gravy on it and some mushrooms. It was good as hell.
ANGEL: [laughs] That’s wassup. Yeah that’s the first thing a lot of people do right? Get that food.
DA BRAT Un huh.
ANGEL: So, we know you completed three years in prison..
DA BRAT Two and a half, two and a half years. And I’m on an ankle monitor right now. They got me on house arrest right now. they just won’t leave me alone.
ANGEL:Yeah I read that you were going to be on probation for seven more years?
DA BRAT Yeah probation seven years. I’m on parole til August and I’m on an ankle monitor right now, I can’t leave the house. At least I’m in the comfort of my own spot and I’m getting everything setup right now.
ANGEL: Well we hit up the Concrete Loop twitter followers earlier and told them that we would be speaking with you and one of the questions they asked the most is ‘What have you learned from your prison experience”?
DA BRAT I learned not to take things for granted so much. A lot of things that I had right at my feet. When it’s kind of taken away from you and you can’t do those things anymore, you really really learn to appreciate them more. Like studio time, a lot of times J.D. might be like “Brat, come to the studio” and I was like “naw I’ll be there later.”[laughs] I would go to sleep and not go but when you in prison you wish you could go. You can do the things you have a passion for, you wish you could hug and kiss your family when you want to. I missed flying back and forth to Chicago every week to see my family. My grandmother had been sick so and losing love ones and all that and not being able to go to the funeral. And those things really hit hard when you can’t do things that you are so used to doing. I learned a lot of patience as well, you know in prison you can’t just flip out on somebody…you kinda just gotta be like “okay, okay..” You just mind your own business.
It’s been weeks of speculation but Nick Cannon has confirmed that he and wife Mariah Carey are indeed going to have twins.
Ever since Mariah slipped and said “they” when referring to her pregnancy, rumors have been rampant about the possibility of twins for the two. And as it turns out, the first person to get confirmation of the news wasn’t a reporter or family friend, but President Barack Obama.
On his 92.3 radio show, Cannon told the story:
On Friday, you will see my wife perform in front of the President and the first family … and she opens the show with a song she wrote called “One Child” which is kind of ironic. It’s a festive holiday song … she even speaks of how she was inspired writing this song and being pregnant. So as she’s singing this song and goes backstage and has the opportunity to speak with the President and the First Family, and they even questioned my wife about ‘So what are you having, are you having twins?’ At this point she hadn’t told anybody anything … and because of the excitement, she was overwhelmed and she shared with the President that we are having twins.
With the Christmas holiday just around the corner, singer Mariah Carey has been busy resting and promoting her new holiday album, Merry Christmas II You. During one of her latest radio interviews, the mother-to-be accidentally hinted that there may be more than one child on the way:
The 40-year-old singer, who recently announced that she and husband Nick Cannon are expecting, spoke with Radio Disney’s Ernie D. to promote her new holiday CD, Merry Christmas II You, on Tuesday, and while explaining that she sings songs from her new album to her baby bump, Carey let slip wit an offhand statement that will no doubt launch 1,000 rumors:
“I hope that they don’t turn out hating Christmas!” [SOURCE]
Could it be? I guess we’ll have to wait and see…
The singer collaborated with her mother, opera singer, Patricia Carey in one of the songs from her Christmas album entitled, “Oh Come All Ye Faithful”. Check them out in the official video, singing their duet in a studio.
