Essence Music Festival had many celebrity appearances on Day 2 (July 2) of the annual event held at the great Louisiana Superdome. Many strolled through backstage including the festival’s All-Access VIP Lounge on Saturday night, enjoying cocktails and tasty finger food. Since joining Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music fold, former member of the duo Clipse, Pusha-T offers up his first project before he delivers his debut solo album, which he cites as a “whole other monster.” The new mixtape, Fear of God is hosted by the Re-Up Gang, much like many of Pusha’s mixtapes in the past.
Fear of God is 13 tracks of original material, as well as freestyles over classic instrumentals, with features from Kanye West, 50 Cent, Kevin Cossom, Rick Ross and more. Production ranges from G.O.O.D. Music front man, Kanye West, The Neptunes, Tha Bizness and many more.
Check out the track “Power” from singer/songwriter Mateo. This is his take on Kanye’s popular song “Power” and is the first leak from his upcoming collaboration with Grammy Award winning producer Kerry “Krucial” Brothers (best known for his work with Alicia Keys).
Some of you may remember Mateo from our Artist Spotlight back in ’09 (VIEW IT HERE) and maybe even his version of Jay-Z’s and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind” (LISTEN HERE) that gained him somewhat of a following in 2010.
