The fifth annual BET Honors was tapped last month at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. and finally aired on Monday evening (February 13). This year’s award show honored Dr. Maya Angelou, singers Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder, film director Spike Lee, educator Beverly Kearney and the Tuskegee Airmen.
Actress Gabrielle Union was the host for the evening with musical performances done by Aretha Franklin, Kelly Rowland, Jennifer Hudson, India. Arie, Ledisi, Common, Anthony Hamilton, Patti LaBelle and more. There was also a spoken word performance given by Willow Smith, Cicely Tyson, Queen Latifah and Jill Scott.

Single Ladies‘s Queen Latifah paid a visit to The Wendy Williams show on Wednesday morning (January 18). In light of all the rumored Baby Blue Ivy rumors, the daytime talk show host asked the actress if she can see herself having and raising her own children one day. Latifah joked about how she’s been practicing and then responded with:
Honestly, if God willing, it will work out however it’s supposed to work out. And that’s the plan, you know? It’s kind of funny. After Queen basically beat around the bush, Wendy asked her, “So do you want to be a mother or not, Queen?” The actress jokingly yelled, “I am a mother! I’ve been paying for people for 18 years!…No, I’d love to be a mom. But how that works out exactly, I cannot say. It’s in God’s hands.” Peep the clip.

Ruching was a hot trend of the night, showing up on dresses on several actresses including Glee’s Amber Riley, M:I 4 leading lady Paula Patton, and Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress winner Octavia Spencer.
Amber went for bold, sultry red in a strapless Badgley Mischka gown. Soft makeup, long hair, and a few choice pieces of diamond jewelry completed her look.
Paula wore what was arguably the boldest hued dress of the night. Her canary yellow Monique Lhuillier gown was definitely turning heads left and right on the red carpet, and if her posing and primping were any indication, she loved every moment of it, as she should have.
The Help’s Octavia Spencer, whose Golden Globe win puts her that much closer to an Oscar, wore a lavender Tadashi Shoji gown that was tailored to perfection. Continue

Jennifer Hudson got her book promo one and showed off her slimmed down figure while posing for the cameras in New York City (January 10). Hudson recently spoke out against rumors of her turning down the role of “Precious” due to the required weight.
