‘ROUND THE WAY: RIHANNA’S VIDEO CAUSES OUTRAGE / SHAQ RETIRING / COSBY CAST MEMBER PASSES & MORE

After releasing a rather graphic music video for her latest single, “Man Down”, the Parents Television Council are not at all pleased with the visual depiction of Rihanna‘s song, saying the video showed a “cold, calculated execution of murder”, according to TMZ:

The council is outraged that Rihanna would suggest that gunning down a rapist in a crowded train station is a proper form of justice. “If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop. Rihanna should not get a pass …”

Oop! The PTC is even more upset that the pop star tweeted to her fans saying that her video has “a very strong underlying message 4 girls like me.” Dang. In all honesty, I was surprised how graphic the video was. Wonder if Rihanna & co. thought it would receive this type of backlash? Thoughts?

    COUPLED UP: SHERRI SHEPARD GETS ENGAGED + SHAQ AND HOOPZ OUT & ABOUT IN NYC + RICK FOX AND ELIZA IN HOLLYWOOD

    Comedian and television personality Sherri Shepherd is finally engaged to her new fiance, television writer, Lamar Sally. The couple met through the fiance of mutual friend, actress and comedian Niecy Nash. According to sources, the proposal was very much a surprise and Lamar made sure to seek the approval of Sherri’s son, Jeffrey before popping the big question:

    “Upon arriving back to Lamar’s home in Los Angeles from a trip to San Diego, Sherri was surprised to find their accommodations had been decorated with lights by one of Sal’s best friends, her dog was wearing a Santa beard and hat, and, in the middle of a dish of Sherri’s favorite but forbidden M&M’s (she is diabetic), was a tiny little box,” the statement says.

    Before Sally popped the question, he sought permission from Shepherd’s 5-year-old son, Jeffrey, with a little encouragement in the form of Michael Jackson’s The Experience Wii game. “With that, Sal took a knee and, backed up by the King of Pop, popped the question,” the statement continues.     The engagement was made official on December 26, one day after the Christmas holiday. The future Mr. and Mrs. plan on jumping the broom some time in August 2011 in Shepherd’s hometown of Chicago. Congratulations, Sherri!

    ‘ROUND THE WAY: SHAQUILLE O’NEAL GETS SUED FOR HACKING + JENNIFER LOPEZ TO JOIN AMERICAN IDOL PANEL + MJ FANS CHARGED $3 TO LEAVE GIFTS


    NBA basketball player Shaquille O’ Neal has been hit with a lawsuit, by Shawn Darling, a former employee, for invasion of privacy and intentional emotional distress. Darling claims that O’Neal invaded his privacy by hacking into his computer and destroying evidence of O’Neal’s affair with his mistresses Alexis Miller and Vanessa Lopez. Darling claims that he began receiving threats from O’Neal after O’Neal discovered that Darling was in contact with Lopez in regards to O’Neal hacking her phone and voicemails.

    With the help of an Arizona detective, O’Neal attempted to frame Darling for possession of child pornography, in an attempt to confiscate the computer which held evidence of his affair with Vanessa Lopez.

    In emails quoted as evidence in the lawsuit, O’Neal’s agent wrote on December 15, 2009, “got it he will be stopped n pay for this.”

    O’Neal wrote back, “ok but in the meantime o boy needs to be put in jail, we have way too many law enforcement connections to let a criminal try to get over on mine o mine, we don’t need any distractions as we deal with Harvard guy, shoe line guy, restaurant guy, real estate guy and everything we are planning to do after basketball life…” [ SOURCE ]

    J.LO TO JOIN AMERICAN IDOL JUDGE PANEL

    Sources confirm that singer/actress Jennifer Lopez has signed a 1-year contract with FOX’s American Idol for about $12 million dollars. The mother of two will be added to the judges panel for the next season. Simon Cowell, Ellen Degeneres and Kara DioGuardi have all stepped down, leaving Randy Jackson to hold down the fort. No word on who the other judge(s) will be. [ SOURCE ]
