FASHION: ‘A LOOK AT THE STYLE & TRENDS’ AT THE 54TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS

Black and Gold

One immediately spotted trend of the night was basic black getting kicked up a notch with bold, metallic gold accents. Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna, and Alicia Keys were all at the forefront of this look, with Rihanna and Alicia even wearing the same pair of Christian Louboutin heels.

BFF of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Gwyneth took to the Grammy stage wearing a black gown from Stella McCartney. The dress was accessorized with a wide gold belt.

Rihanna had all heads turning on the red carpet in a custom Giorgio Armani dress that she collaborated on with Armani himself, saying the designer was beginning to trust her design skills. She also said the inspiration for her look came from Michelle Pfeiffer’s character in the movie Scarface. She matched her new gold hair, with a gold clutch, and gold wrist cuff.

Alicia Keys also wore black and gold, accessorizing her black Alexandre Vauthier knee length dress with an oversized gold statement necklace. A stylish pompadour hairstyle and Christian Louboutin ‘Bis Un Bout’ clear PVC ankle-strap pumps completed her look.

EVENTS: 54TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS (RED CARPET ARRIVALS)

Some of music’s biggest names graced the red carpet at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. Some celebrities kept it classy and sophisticated like Rihanna, Melanie Fiona and Adele, while others went the extra mile and walked in with their best red carpet costume (*cough*…Nicki Minaj…*cough*). Some couples like Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz and John Legend & his fiance Christine Tiegen posed hand-in-hand for the flashing lights.

NEWS: DOJ SHUTS DOWN MEGAUPLOAD & HACK ATTACKS ENSUE + SWIZZ BEATZ IS NOT THE CEO

On Thursday, the U.S. Department of Justice shut down MegaUpload, one of the world’s largest file-sharing websites amid allegations that the site violated piracy and copyright laws.

The Hong Kong-based company, which was initially reported to be headed by Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean (view details below), came under fire last month following news that Universal Music Group had ordered a video showcasing its artists, Diddy, Kanye West and Will.i.Am, in the video above which promotes MegaUpload alongside other celebrities. The site fired back with a lawsuit to stop Universal from trying to block the video, but that was the least of its concerns Thursday morning when the site was accused of costing copyright holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated content.

Seven individuals, including MegaUpload founder Kim Schmitz also known as Kim Dotcom, were charged with five counts of criminal acts, including conspiracy to commit racketeering and criminal copyright infringement, while generating over $175 million.

In response to the charges, the hacktivist group Anonymous launched its “largest attack ever, crippling government and music industry sites” such as the Department of Justice, Universal Music Group, RIAA and Motion Picture Association of America in its #OpMegaUpload. Following yesterday’s strike against SOPA and PIPA, the group Twittered: Let’s just say, for #SOPA supporters their #SOPAblackout is today. #Anonymous.. In addition, the group mentioned “the raid on Megaupload Thursday proved that the feds don’t need SOPA or its sister legislation, PIPA, in order to pose a blow to the Web”. Continue

RANDOM PICS: ALICIA KEYS & SWIZZ BEATZ VISIT ART EXHIBIT IN L.A.

Alicia Keys and her hubby Swizz Beatz dropped by the Mr. Brainwash Life is Beautiful art exhibition during their time on the West coast. The artistic displays included larger than life installations like a 20-foot robot made of old television sets and some colorful spray-painted street art.

The singer-songwriter took to her Tumblr page and documented photos from their inspiring experience. Check out some photos from the cool exhibit visit after the jump!

Went to the Mr. Brainwash exhibit today at 960 N Labrea. If your in the LA area you should absolutely go! It’s like a fantasy! Huge installations of everything u can imagine from oversized polaroid cameras to cars shoved into a hole. Huge 10 foot tall spray cans and Darth Vador made out of tires and one of my personal favorites, his crazy cool broken record series where iconic pictures are made out of broken records. Everyone will love this exhibit. All ages. It’s like a fun house!;-) if you went already or if u get a chance to go, tell me what u think! [ALICIA'S TUMBLR PAGE]
