The world had mixed feelings about the musical reunion of singers Chris Brown and Rihanna on their new remixed singles, Rihanna’s “Birthday Cake” and Chris’s “Turn Up the Music”. “Birthday Cake” producer/songwriter The Dream spoke with Rapfix about how the collaboration went down and dished on who came up with the surprising idea to reunite the former couple on a track. In all honesty, he was shocked himself:
“I remember her [Rihanna] mentioning it. At the end of the day, she’s my friend, so whatever she wants to do is whatever she wants to do [...] I was in the car actually in Miami and driving. And she was like, ‘What’s up? I think I’m gonna put Chris on it.’ I was like, ‘I don’t know which Chris you talkin’ about, I know you’re ain’t talking about the Chris you’re talking about [but] OK, cool, whatever you say.’ She didn’t say anything else about it and it happened. The Dream hasn’t released an album since 2010′s Love King, but kept fans interested with releasing his first ever mixtape, 1977. But now he’s back with the lead single, “Roc,” from his upcoming fourth studio album, The Love, IV: Diary of A Madman. The album is slated to hit stores this spring.
I guess this week is the case of the exes. Not only did Christina Millian recently open up about her last marriage [SEE POST], but her ex-husband did, too. In a recent inteview with English DJ/radio personality, Tim Westwood, Terius “The Dream” Nash talked about how Rihanna’s “Umbrella” single has earned him about $15M so far, how he doesn’t allow baby mama drama and what really caused his split from his former wife:
ON WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN HIM AND CHRISTINA:
It wasn’t about moreso any particular thing that actually happened, even though that’s how the media made it out to be, it’s moreso about not being ready. On both sides. It was really rushed. It was one of those things you know you passionately go after. You still have to suffer the consequence if you’re not ready to really mentally commit to that.
