In an emotional interview, Whitney Houston opened up to talk-show host Oprah Winfrey about a pivotal role her mother played in getting the singer back on track.
“Now looking at it, I see the love and passion that my mother had for me and she has for me,” Houston told Winfrey. “She says, ‘I have a court [injunction] here. Either you do it my way, or we’re just not going to do this at all. We are both going to go on TV, and you’re going to retire.’
Houston said her mother implored her to come with her, saying, “‘ It’s not worth it.’ ”
” ‘I’m not losing you to the world,’ ” Houston said her mother told her. ” ‘I’m not losing you to Satan. I’m not doing this. I want my daughter. I want you back. I want to see that glow in your eyes. That light in your eye.’ “”

Whitney Houston and her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown (pictured below) hit up ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ on Tuesday morning in New York City.
According to reports, the singer’s voice was a little off while performing the 3 song gig and she said this to the crowd:
“I’m so sorry. I did ‘Oprah,”‘ Houston said. “I’ve been talking for so long. … I talked so much, my voice … . I shouldn’t be talking. I should be singing.”
The anticipated Oprah Winfrey episode will be airing later on this month and Houston’s long-awaited new album is in stores now.

Whitney explained the title saying, “The last several years spiritually, this song says all I wanted to say. There are times in life when we go through certain situations – some not so good. You have to reach for a higher strength, you have to reach deep inside yourself, spend time with yourself to make some corrections that go beyond your own understanding and lean on a higher understanding, for me this song puts it all in check. If I did not have my faith I wouldn’t be as strong today.”
